start off with 1 coil first, 1.5 coil might be too low when with passengers.

Will cutting the Springs mean the spring no longer rests flat on your strut or frame?

I know you can get a full set of Eibach lowering springs for around $250 so even if you find you've gone too far you won't be out that much.

Let us know how you make out.

Hi :) ,

Cutting coils :( !

A couple of issues raise themselves (lower themselves?).

The vehicle will be lowered but the spring rate wont be changed. It just means that there is less distance for the suspension to travel before it bottoms.

How will handling be improved?

Also, your springs will no longer be captive on full droop, giving rise to the possibility of the springs falling out of position, to the detriment of yourself and possibly other road users.

Insurance company? (Perhaps less than thrilled)

How would your local traffic authorities react to the home made lowering kit?(Also less than thrilled)

Surely if it is a beater, you've spent some money on the other parts of the car. Why compromise on your suspension?

Get kitted by a suspension specialist.

Cheers,

Andrew B) .
