Hi

I am repeating this from my mailing on the Tuscon forum as it appears that no one has any idea of what to do. Can anyone on this forum help please.

I had some nice person in a car park scratch the plastic bumper on the rear nearside wrap round portion. I have rubbed it gently using wet-n-dry (and soap)and have removed the worst parts of the scratches but can anyone else advise on the proper way to do it.

The dealer has quoted £280 thats about $600 and it seems an awful lot. He explained he would have to do quite a lot to get it right are there any body repairers out there that can tell me whats involved?

I have temporarily used a product called Back to Black to ensure that the scratches are masked a bit.

Any helpful hints appreciated
Geoff

damage to 'plastic' bumpers does require specialist repaire to do the job properly, special paint is needed to ensure a proper repair. however you could do a reasonable repair yourself. (l presume your bumpers are black and not colour coded) you say you have rubbed most of the scratches out. now get some body filler from your local car ass. shop (isipon for instance) mix it up and apply carefully to the damaged area, when dry use some fine wey & dry paper and rub down until it is smooth (use the paper wet to do this) when it is smooth you can use an airasol spray paint to finish off

Thanks Montego, when cleaning it today (I had my glasses on )I found that the bumpers are sprayed a blacky grey metallic so maybe I will eventually have to have them done professionally, methinks I will wait till I can catch another **** hitting the car and he can pay for it all.
Regards
Geoff
