I was thinking about adding a cold air intake or new exhaust system to my 2003 Elantra GT. I have heard from some people that doing this can cause a lot of problems with the car and it's not worth it. So I was wondering from those of you who have done this if it is worth it to do either or both of these things in terms of price and performance.

Also, anyone have any suggestions on where to buy these things?

Hey
Put a CAI and cat back exhaust on, both purchased fromperformance styling centre
Both recomended, CAI was easy enough to install, i wrote a D.I.Y up click here. There are prices for both on the website...they are in AUS dollars....even dyno sheets for the exhaust i believe...
Hope that helps!

As far as it all goes i installed the CAI myself....ezy...couldnt do the exhaust cos the bolts were to stiff....but cost like $30Aus to get installed, if that. No problems at all with either....only positive results

Some people are complaining about random CEL's after installing a CAI , if you are concerned i would recommend a SRI such as the Injen . About the same HP gain and no hydrolocking worries . A quality catback won't cause any problems with the cars driveability and should see about a 5% HP gain . Check these links :

CAI's and cat back exhausts are truly about the most common upgrades there are. generally they are considered nothing more then bolt on's in the performance world. Rarely ever do people experience problems from them unless the happen to noise into a puddle thats to deep and they suck water into there engine...but now the have blow by valves that have virtually eliminated that risk. neways CAI's and cat backs are great accessories that provide decent power at at fairly reasonable price. SRI's really are for nothing more than noise, because they suck in all the hot air from inside your engine bay. whenever you see high dyno numbers on them they usually were dynoed with the hood off the car... just a thought.....

Yeah and the car is not moving so the dyno numbers are misleading because a CAI would actually get cold air while the car is moving. That said they are supposed to give a little performance gain as well because there are less restrictions (ie. you get more air faster) so it is a little bit of a toss up. Personally I prefer an actual CAI basically because it makes more sense.

I have a question. I have a 2006 Santa Fe 2.7. If I put a new exhaust on but do not change the diameter of the piping, I should have no sensor problems right?(No Check engine Light? I used to have a 2003 Tiburon. I did the same thing with that and had no problems.
