Hello Guys,

First post here.
I've had a look around and haven't seen anything mentioned about this so will describe what I mean and see if it seems familiar with anybody:

First off for the technical people here....Is this car on Speed Density Tune?
I believe it is and would explain part if not all of the problem.
The car is a 1.3GL 5-speed manual.
The problem is what seems like a weak fuelling mixture causing a hesitation in acceleration (like the engine is being held back) until it gets to around 3500rpm, from then on it pulls quite well.

The car is running on 95 RON UL and everything is as it should be. It is totally stock and has less than 1000kms on the odo.
The fuel consumption is about right (8L/100kms or 34mpg ...imperial).

If this is a familiar "problem", then the question is ..can anything be done about it by the dealer?
i.e. Do they have the ability to re-flash the ECU with a better map.

I am aware that many cars are manufactured with this sort of (economy) tune; but frankly I'd rather sacrifice a few mpg and have the engine running strongly all through the rpm range.

DOnt knwo too much about the ECU bit, my car, a 1.6 Getz, also felt a bit slow at low rpm at first . After it had about 5000Km on, it felt much better!

i have a very similar problem... the fuel consumption is way different and low than what is expected. i bought a getz 1.1 gl a month ago and so far the consumption is 9-10 km/li! i can't believe consuming that much gas with the least power! if you have answers to these questions, please do inform me. need to know too. thanks a lot :liebe011:

there`s nothing u can do about the engine mapping, its tuned for economy rather than performance.u have 2 keep the revs high to enjoy the power.wat i do is stretch it upto 4000 rpm in 1st and 2nd once in a while

Not very true on what you said. I am doing ECU Programming for Hyundai Make of vehicles. I am able to flash the ECU with my designed Maps for better performance and fuel economy.

Pls visit my website for detail on ECU Programming: www.harmony.sg

OK ! Harmony I am with you 100%, but where do we go from here, I live in the UK and I am willing to give anything a go, because I am sick of the performace of my Getz, I have tried with add-ons which were a waste of time and money, I do know that the engine is only a 1341cc , but I have had better fuel consumption from a 2800 cc, also better performance from a 1000cc, addimited the 2.8 and the 1.0 did not have a ECU which I think is the downfall of trying to get the best out a engine, so come on, what have you new to say ?????

I do not have UK Getz specification and ECU Program Version. I can only program it if you are able to send me your ECU. Beside, I also need to read your stock performance; mainly your exhaust lambda reading at 3000, 4000, 5000 n 6000 rpm. It should read 0.85 - 0.7 from 3k to 6k rpm.

If you are able to give me these information and send me your ECU. I will be able to give you a good map.

Send me an email for further discussion into this. Thanks

i bought a 1.3, 5speed manual getz this jan its a 2006 modal... had the same prob i live in india, due to heavy traffic condition i get 8-10kmpl on highway if i keep the speed really low that is constant 80kmph and shift at low rpm i get around 14kmpl...
i'm really sick of driving it both within city limit and highway accelator reponse i very very bad and very sluggish .. i have to maintain almost 4500 rpm right from 1st gear to have a decent performance and once i reduces a bit i have to come back to first gear else i have to wait ages to gain the speed.... planning to change k&n 57i series air filter and uber twin iridium spark plug hope the might reduce the sluggishness in 0-3000rpm
