I jsut would like to know how to do this, I currently have a tan interior and would love to have a black one. Should I buy the new seats and dash and all of that good stuff or could I paint it? Not sure on how to do any of this.....

Just off the top, I guess that, for the amount of work involved, it would be better to trade it in on a black-interiored one!...

If you want to ruin the car, the resale value, and destroy your interior paint it. Otherwise, I'd say it'd be a lot easier to just get a different car.

I have done two interior switch-overs on other cars, and I agree with the others, but if you are dead-set... wait until your dash cracks on the passenger side air bag (if it hasn't it will) then get talk the dealer into replacing it with the black pad instead of the tan. That is the hardest part to replace in my opinion. For the rest of the interior, scan E-bay or your local junkyards for a wrecked Azera with the Black interior and swap it out with yours. I don't recommend painting anything. If you don't have the patience to wait for a wrecked one... You could get a black aftermarket carpet for fairly cheap, black seatcovers and use spray dye on the headliner and pillars. You'd be stuck painting the doors and dash, which can be done, but you can't skimp on the type/quality of paint and have to be VERY careful and patient. If done right, it can be super high quality.

Don't do it my friend. You will be forever sorry and if there is the slightest flaw you will lower the resale value even more than it is. Why not have your interior detailed and it will look like new? Otherwise as has been suggested just trade in for a car with a black interior. Just a further word of advice, if you live in an area where the summers are hot I can assure you the inside of your car will be like an inferno. Why not just enjoy what you have?

Dye your Floor mats. Its pretty easy. Powdered carpet dye mixed with hot water. Pour it on them in the back yard and let them dry for a few days- hose them off and it is permanent. I too have tan. I tried the spray paint method (yes they have a spray paint for carpets) but it would not penetrate deep enough to not change colors when you bent the carpet fibers. But the Carpet dye worked great. It has been in there for over a year and no fade, no drawbacks at all. And no dirt marks from my shoes now either since I dyed Cocoa Brown. The brown does not come up on my shoes either.
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?sh...mp;#entry238542 The dye was like $20.
I tried buying aftermarket dark mats. Lloyds. They looked good but would not stay on the mounting pegs that hold the mats down. Sent them back. Here is where I bought my dye.

I put dark mats over the tan mats. To keep them in place, you can simply run a couple of screws through the mats (first temporarily detatching the OEM mats) and run a nut up from beneath, returning the OEM mats to their attachment points...

Okay could somebody enlighten me on the appeal of mats-on-top-of-mats? I just can't fathom why you would stack them like that and please don't say to protect the light colored ones. I have rubber floor mats for my Santa Fe and I only use them during the rainy season (November through April/May). During the summer I put the carpeted mats back in.

I want the carpeted mats to stay looking new as long as possible and so I take them out of the car for the winter when I put the rubber ones in rather than putting the rubber ones on top. It's worked, too. The original carpeted mats lasted a solid four years of heavy driving only being in the car part time. If you really want to protect your light colored mats....take them out. I'm not trying to sound harsh. Just sayin'.

I stack them to prote...

Oh wait... I'm not allowed to say that... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

There's pretty much only one kind of weather down here in SW Florida, so it's dye the tan ones or cover them or clean them a lot. I pick "cover them," for two hundred, Alex!...

I put the thin plastic transparent ones you get at walmart over my beige mats. They have worked well and only costs 8 bucks for a set of 4.

I found a set of four substantial cloth ones at a car wash for $15 in a color that's very close to my Augergine Limited...
