I just purchased a used 2001 XG300 with 84K miles on it. I have been exploring the car since I dont have the owners
manual (yet, I ordered one from eBay). One of the things I discovered was a lock on the trunk latch that, when engaged,
prevents the trunck from being opened with the key or from the release. Can some one tell me what the practical use for that
would be?

well, the idea is that if you take the car in for repairs etc. you can lock things away in the trunk stopping anyone from getting in to it (stupid idea though as you only have to pull the rear seat down from inside the car to get into the trunk!)

There are locks on the rear seats, too.

Apparently, the main function of these three locks is to get stuck in the locked position, preventing me from folding down the seats or opening the trunk remotely.

Biggest irritation I've run into so far.

(Sorry I didn't catch you earlier, you can download the manual from http://hmaservice.com)
