Hi all,

When I pulled the glove compartment out of my 1992 Hyundai Excel GLS I discovered
a round plug (somewat like a PS/2 plug on your comp, but with more pins); can anyone
tell me what it is and what it's for (besides hanging around -- see Picture 1)?

Also, on the console there are two buttons for fog lights and rear windshield heating, but
when uncovered, it appears there's another connector connected to a dummy button; any ideas (see Picture 1)?

Finally, just above the oxygen sensor there's an open hole capable of holding a tube end, no tube connected though (see Picture 2). Attached to the "frying pan" is also an open hole, is this an air heater or something and should i put a tube between them?

picture 2:

Thanks in advance,
Xander

Modified: see top parent post.

Following my question, I've taken pictures; I will post the dashboard pictures later.
The attachment (PNG) shows the 1.5 engine with highlighted and cut-out opening.

there should be a hole in the bottom of the intake tube, in which a pre heater hose connects the two holes.

the dummy switch that you are talking about in the center counsel there should be four switch(s) A/C, Rear wiper, Rear washer fluid, and rear defroster. IF equiped.

Isn't the GLS a four door?

the connector in the glove compartment? don't know about that one

The car is a four door sedan, so no rear windshield wiper. The A/C switch is equipped by a button below the 3 dials.

Thanks all. Got a mechanic to look at it in its spare time. Replies were correct.
The remaining connector (in the glove compartment) appears to be a cd-changer link (ends in trunk)
