Did anyone see that there are now new rear springs for the 06-08 Sonata? This was recently posted on hmaservice.com. There is no indication what the reason for the new parts is but one would think it was to address an issue. The TSB says that if the new part is used that both rear springs must be replaced at the same time so they must be revised from the current part.

Hi Rally,

You're really on top of your stuff man! Thanks for that.

Do you suffer from the noisy rear suspension too? The same rumble, thump noise I have?

Charles

There are times that I find the suspension noise over some surfaces louder than I would prefer. Since my car is no longer under warranty I'm not sure that it bothers me enough to pay out of pocket to try to improve it though.

I am interested to see if anyone has these installed on their Sonata or if a dealer uses them as a fix to rear suspension issues.

Hello Rally,

Would you reload the TSB above? When downloading it, it gives me an error. Wonder if corrupted.

Thanks,

Charles

QUOTE (Lucero @ Mar 11 2010, 10:53 AM) *
Does anyone know what problem the new springs are supposed to fix?

Just came back from my dealer for oil service and tire rotation and balance. In addition I brought a copy of the TSB for replacement of rear springs. Road test confirmed, noisy suspension, and the parts were ordered, no questions asked. Though my Sonata is just over 4 years it has just a little over 14,000 miles. Back in late 06 when they were changing the rear struts on 07 and some 06's I had my original struts changed. It didn't completely correct the noisy rear suspension and now I am thrilled to get this done. Remember if you don't call a TSB to the service writers attention they are not going to make the "offer" and in some cases they are not even aware of a particular TSB. This is why participation in these forums is so important. I am not sure how this would play out if you are out of warranty but since it would have to be based on mileage and not age (all 06's should be less than 5 years old) and the TSB is dated Jan. 2010 go for it. Anyone in the NY area needing a good dealer, try JM Hyundai in New Rochelle and ask for Shacun Malave, he's my service adviser and a good guy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Thank you for the information. Please give us an update once the parts are in and installed. I look forward to hearing if it makes an improvement in your car.
