the side moulding on my car is steel and is rusting out can

I just take it off and replace it or do I have to get that side repainted?

also does any one know how to remove it?? :57:

The moulding can be removed (I take it you mean the waist moulding and not the rocker panel) - it's just pressed in place so you can pry it off starting at one end and working your way along

I don't know where you would get a replacement - is yours colour matched to the car?

yes I mean the steel trim halfway up the door and yes it is colour matched to the car but it doesn't just peel off like rubber mouldings

The side mouldings are solid pieces that are held onto the body and door panels by plastic clips that snap into holes in the door/body.

The clips will often break no matter how carefull you are prying the mouldings loose but they can be replaced.

There is a special tool made for removing body mouldings or you can try using use one of those plastic putty knives sold in paint stores.

You would still have the cost of having a new moulding painted to match your car.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO GET THEM PAINTED TO MATCH MAYBE I'LL REMOVE THESE AND GO WITH BLACK RUBBER ONES.
