Hi Guys, I would welcome your advice on a simple and inexpensive code reader with the ability to cancel the CEL symbol which is showing every time I fill up with gas. It's getting embarrassing to go to such as pepboys and have it reset every time.

For a 2004, all you need is a generic OBDII code reader to read/clear the majority of your codes. Somewhere around 2005, most manufacturers 'upgraded' to OBDII with CAN (controller area network) which your 2004 prolly won't have, but CAN capable reards are backwards compatable so no worries. They were cheaper a year ago and used to go on sale for ~$39-49, but here's an example: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=98568 *UPDATE*, better yet, search Amazon. com, they've got some listed for $39 w/ free shipping.

I've had great luck with Amazon purchases (and HFT for that matter). Let us know how you made out!

Hi Joel

What is HFT (and HFT for that matter) I'm probably missing something simple here!!!

I will let you know about the amazon purchase which I think I have already said is dependent on me taking a credit card with them but because I am not a resident and do not have a S-Security number it is unlikely they will offer me a card.

Hi again Joel
Amazon are offering another reader "Autel MaxiScan MS300 CAN OBD-II Code Reader" (http://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiScan-MS300-OBD-II-Reader/dp/B001LHVOVK/ref=pd_sim_auto_6) to the one you recommended for an extra $1.00.

I would welcome your advice on which is most suitable for my use on a S Fe '04

Yep. That will work great for you. Your neighbors, co-workers, etc will all love you too when they need a scan!

Thanks Joel.
I'll give Amazon another few days to see about this credit card, if they don't come back to me i'll go ahead and purchase.
It would be pretty good to have the $30.00 reduction. ($30.00 of my first purchase when I use the card)
