My i10 suffers from bad condensation when parked up.

I came out of work today to find the windscreen heavily condensated over.
I took a look at all of the other cars and mine was the only one.

what could be causing this?

Thanks

Yeah, I have the same problem. Mists up real easy and like you said looking around at other cars in the street the i10 appears to be the only misted up? Any ideas?

Getting in the car with a wet coat on will introduce moisture into the car leading to condensation but the air con should take it out.

Talking of condensation but slightly of topic I washed my I10 in the damp for the first time a few day ago. I was very surprised to find the drivers side headlight all steamed up on the inside. Only the drivers side. I was wondering if the damp had got in to it some how ? Has this happened to any one else ?

I have not really noticed anything to bad, although once I had really bad condensation on the inside windscreen..with dripping down the window... it was only there for about 3 1/2 hours, but it had not done it before or since.

The condensation can be bad especially if you bought your car in the winter. It was parked for quite a long time and it has got dump inside. Simple solution:
A\C on for max heat and leave it for some time. If it still getting wet then check carpets, under the carpets and boot under the spare wheel if there is no water. Check the cabin filter if it is not wet. Even if you open your door during the rain that should not be an issue.

Just thought i'd drag this back to the top as today my didn't want to clear, no amount of air-con and heater would clear it fully, rear offisde window especially bad, when I opened the door to look for damp the sill was very wet, dried it and all is fine now

I've also had a problem with this appearing every day, which I really don't want when I'm leaving for work really early in the morning.

I got my car at the end of the summer, I take out my umbrella or coat if they are wet, not noticed any damp spots, but will have a closer look. I've had the air con on with the heater as I travel in. Maybe I've not had them on long enough? But when its gone, there does come a point where I can't stand anymore heat. lol

Dunno what else to do, I like my sleep, I don't want to have to get up at 5:30am to demist my car! And its going to start turning to ice when it really gets cold. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

the air-con can be a great help at demisting, but what happens to the cold surface?

condensation, what happens when the air-con is switched off?

the condensation moves into the car.

i find if i need to use the air-con to clear the windows, i will have to keep it on all day or the windows mist up again.

use the heater, as hot as you can bear, fan on 3 or 4 and if not raining open the rear windows a little to improve ventilation.

another idea is the wind deflectors, which mean the windows can stay open longer.

As a heavy user of an i10, your experiences would be valuable as feedback.. if they take any notice.

Does it make any difference if you have the air on 're-circ?' In the summer, this keeps the cold air in the car but I would have thought you need fresh air entering the car for the damp air to be expelled.

I had this on mine - and it was because I'd hit the recirc button by mistake. Switched it off and with the A/C on it cleared within about 30 seconds.

As regards the condensation on the headlamps, it mentions it in the handbook. Switch the lights on and it disappears pretty quickly as they warm up.

Funily enough after posting this, the condensation had disappeared! lol I had had the windows open after the heating for a couple of days in a row, that seems to have sorted it.

My windows have had terrible condensation for the past couple of weeks - the other morning this had frozen on the inside of the windscreen and took ages to clear. However I have started removing the cloth I use to wipe the screen from the car (I either put it on the radiator at work or home) and hey presto this has resolved the problem. I also make sure my wet umbrella is removed from the car.

To clear the windows I put on the air-con, full heat, air circulation button OFF, and full blast on the fan and this clears in a couple of minutes. Certainly quicker than my non-air con Ford Ka!

So one problem resolved - squeaky seatbelts remain!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rant2.gif)
