This same topic I posted on the Edmunds Azera web site and was surprised how many were not aware of this cover. The item is called Upper Frame Partition P/N 85720-3L100, it goes in the trunk and covers the rear shelve speakers from brusing and dirt. It is part of the car and should of been installed during manufacturing but somehow got left off on many cars. If your dealer won't listen and help you, then call Hyundai at !-800-633-5151 and get a case number and tell them who your dealer is. You should not be charged for the cover or the 15 minutes it takes to install. I done this early this year and had the cover installed by the dealer within two weeks of my call. Whenever I'm at the dealer I look in the trunk of the new ones and never see the cover. The guys at the Genisus web site tip me off to this since they are having the same problem.

It came standard on the 06, I saw or heard somewhere that it was dropped as a standard item as a cost savings measure. Even the Genesis 3.8 forgoes that upper trim, but the 4.6L model gets it.

As long as it is listed in the IPB as part of the car, you are entitled to and that is how I got it installed. The regional Hyundai Rep has to approve it for the dealer to order and install it.

Would this be an item I am "owed" on my 08 Limited? What is the IPB and how would I find out if the speaker cover should have come on my 08?

The IPB is the Illustrated Parts Breakdown that shows what is installed on the car and can be found by going to Magauto.com, Hundaiparts4less.com or Parts.com and going to the trunk breakdown and look for the Partition. This part is not sold as a accessory, it is a replacement part and should come with the car. Call 800-633-5151 and get a case number if your dealer wont help you.

I called Hyundai Cust. Svc. and they advised me I needed to contact the dealer 1st. So i called our local dealer and gave the parts lady the P/N given in this thread and my VIN. her records show that this P/N was only called out on Azeras made from oct. 06 through May of 07. My 08 build date was 10/31/07. I asked her if an alternate partition part number was called out for my VIN. She has other P/N's but i then asked her to contact her district rep and ask him. I told her it seems odd to include a part there to protect the speakers and then stop installing it.

Anyone with an 08 had any success getting one of these at no cost from the dealer. The speaker would certainly be better protected with something covering them.

After she hears from the rep and calls me back; i may just call Hyundai again. She couldn't even confirm that the 3L100 P/N would fit my car if I were to purchase the part myself.

My 08 has a manufacture date of Jan 08 and I'm the one who had one installed free of charge. I suggest going to the dealer and have them show you the trunk interior on their parts breakdown, should be page 81-835 Luggage Compartment. Don't cost the dealer a dime and he will get reinembursed for the installation charge. Keep pushing and get your car complete.

Got my trunkio cover installed at my local Hyundai dealer at no cost. Saved over $250.00 in parts and labor based on what the parts tech told me.

Looks good too and hides the sheet metal and speakers.

Thanks for the great help on making this happen!

I'm glad to hear you were able to get your rear speaker trunk cover, at least you can feel like the car is more complete.

I checked with my Hyundai dealer, and he told me the speaker cover was not a factory item, but if I wanted one, he would order one for me to purchase. I called Hyundai America and basically was told the same thing.????????? Any sugestions on what to do next?

Read all my posts about the rear speaker cover and do like I did. It is part of the car and should of been installed during mfg. Call the number I listed and ask for a case number and tell your dealer you want to speak to your area Hynudai rep, he usually comes around to dealer twice a month. Sometimes you have to push alittle harder. Good luck and keep all advised of your success.

This is Hyundai's response. I guess the next thing they will make aftermarket are the wheels!!

"You contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs on 02/02/2010 and spoke with your case manager Paul. We also advise you that a partition for your Azera is considered an aftermarket part, and the cost will be your responsibility."

Noah, Here is some more info that might help get your Partition installed. I called 1-800-633-5151 and spoke to Cathy, ID # 54202 and my case file was 3572556. You need P/N 85720-3L100 for a 2008 Azera, same as I have. As I said before the partition is lised in the dealers illustrated parts breakdown as part of the car not as a aftermarket or accessory item. If Hyundai HQ wont help you, . then demand to see the factory rep. I'm not the only one who had Hyundai install and pay for the trunk partition speaker cover. The guys on the Genesis forum have the same problem. Don't give up the fight, I have found Hyundai to be very helpful with any problems I have brought to their attention.

Noah, Just finished talking to Hyundai Consumers Affairs, talked to Chris #54205 who said you can ask for him. You will need your Vin number whenever you call. They in turn have to provide you with a case number. He tried to say they did me a favor by installing the speaker cover and I told him the only they did was complete the interior of trunk, its part of the car and should of been there in the first place.

Its up to you, I can do no more to help you, good luck.

Talked to Chris, basically said the same as the others. You were in the right place at the right time. Just kinda strange a piece like that is left off a $30,000+ vehicle!

You still want to get a case number and an appointment to see your regional Hyundai rep who visits your dealer on a regular basis, don't give up to easy. Do you mind saying where your dealer is located.

Hot Springs, Arkansas. I have a case number, and Chris said it would be reviewed.

Good keep at it. I plan on questioning Hyundai as to why its not installed during manufacture and why have them in stock as replacements if they are not installed during manufacture.

They make it sound like they're offering to custom-make an item that doesn't exist!...
