My daughter has the i30 CRDi pays £35road tax, it seems to be doing 43mpg average bit dissapointing, great car otherwise.

Yeah 43mpg is pretty bad for a brand new diesel...yet my little i10 is only giving 39mpg on average. Prob gonna look at different brands now anyhow......

Hello from Finland!!! I am a happy owner of a i30 Comfort Wagon 1,6CRDi 84kW. The engine is great and not any problems so far with the car... I recommend :-)

I bought a Hyundai i30 1.6CRDi Estate a year ago and my actual* economy has averaged 50MPG over 20,000 miles. In the snowy weather we had in the UK the economy dropped to 38MPG on one fill up. I drive mainly on the motorways and cruise at 70MPH if conditions allow. The highest economy I've had from one fill up was an indicated 60MPG, but that required driving at less then 60 MPH over long distances. (To put this into context, I also have a petrol 2.0i VW Corrado and that regularly gives 45MPG, and I once achieved 53MPG with the equivalent journeys).

I bought my i30 principally for the economy and value for money. The 1.6CRDi now has a 6 speed box as standard, but when I bought mine I only got 5 gears. Top gear isn't long enough to get the best economy, and the extra cog has brought down the VED by a group on most of the i30 models.

* my i30 over-reads by 8%, so speed, economy and distance are all inaccurate. Hence indicated economy is 54MPG when actually its only doing 50MPG. This is because the 15" wheels in the UK are only fitted with 185 x 65 tyres, with a slightly smaller rolling circumference than models with the larger wheels. I plan to change for 195s when my first set need replacing.

The 2009 Comfort 1.4 has to be the best i30. For only £7800 you get all the standard spec of the 2010 premium plus five alloy wheels and fog lights. With the scrappage scheme.

The engine is plenty big enough to take a family of five and their luggage on holiday. It seems anyone buying a 2010 model have missed out since they removed the style and introduced the Classic version.

Had the car since December and I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on the bigger engine. Goes like a rocket.

At the same time we decided to scrap our large family car and replace with new i10 comfort. You only need a city car to get us around town. Still big enought to take five adults and you don't need a big car to get you to work. Who needs an MPV!!!
