I recently just had some work done on my car. There was a note on my receipt saying "Valve Cover has a hairline crack and must be replaced."

What does this exactly mean?? Do i need a whole new cover? or Does the Gasket Need replacing?

well, when they said the the 'valve cover' has a hairline crack l presume they mean the metal cover itself, but how did the crack get there? has someone hit it with something or overtightened the bolts? is there any sign of an oil leak? if there is l would get it changed as soon as

there would be a crack if the bolts are too tight. I replaced on with another from a junked car and replaced all the gaskets at the same time.
