anyone else have have a rattle, or the best way to describ it is the 'taping of two washers on a bolt' coming from the front passenger seat? it is constantly rattle, but when someone is in the front seat it stops. so the weight must be stoping it. i cannot locate it at all, the dealer was no help, after they took it around the block a few times, they heard nothing, its still there!!!

I have a rattle type vibration noise, coming from front passengers side dashboard/engine bay area. Only at around 2000-2500 revs. Annoying & can be intermittent. No doubt, will be hard to locate. Going to give it a little while longer, see if it improves. If not, will take it to dealer.
Noise has always been there, from first day I picked it up & glove box empty.
Have you tried repositioning seat?

yeah i have, no help. i know it can be sorted, as it stops when i have someone in that seat. Maybe i could put a load of sand bags on the seat and that will stop it, but still, it so annoying

Have you checked the channel etc underneath seat? The seat should bolt down to car chassis, check what you can reach. Try physically moving base of seat from side to side, make sure it feels secure. No rattles. Seat belt clip?
I know, can be annoying.
I emptied glove box, half way home from work. Trying to locate my rattle. Not too bad to be honest, just I know it's there.
Other than that, car good.

I have an i20 Style, and I have the same noise from the passenger seat. I have found that banging under the seat at the rear produces the same noise, but haven't had time to look at it yet.

I'm taking my car to dealers next week, try sort rattle out. I'll let you know how I get on. Only seems to happen around 2,000 revs & for the first 15-20 mile or so. Don't think will be easy to locate. If they do, I shall take service plan out with them to cover the 5 year warranty period.

let me know the price of the service plan, also i think you rattle is different to mine, it seems to be on gentle bumps when at its most annoying

Don’t laugh… but I had an issue with a “clunking” noise from the front passenger seat.
It turned out to be the passenger’s seat belt knocking against the door.

I’m not suggesting that this is the same issue KDC’s. But, if the noise disappears when you have a passenger you might see if you still get the noise when the passenger’s seat belt is engaged/secured.

Worth a try?

have given that ago, seat belt ain't the issue, but the sand bags are working a treat!!

only messing, i think i might have found the issue, thou im not sure, the back rest adjustment handle on the passenger seat doesn't sit back down when pulled up, so i gave that a firm push back down into place and the noise has reduced alot, rarely heard it on my morning drive to work, but i also moved the seat about alot

I had a similar rattle; I was about to take it back to the dealer, but I decided to take everything out of the pockets and glove box. This seems to have stopped it, though I noticed that if you didn't make sure the glove box was properly closed, then the lid coud rattle. At the moment I'm doing short runs only; I'll wait for my next long trip to put things back gradually.

£20 per month for 43 months. Would cover first 4 services, interest free. That's a today's servicing costs, not doubt future individual services will go up. Plan is fixed price. My local dealer has also thrown in for free 2nd year RAC cover & next to MOT's at £35 each (MOT's payable on day). If you were sell the car whilst under the plan, all over payments would be refunded.
If my local dealer sort rattle out, will prob go with plan. Have it all in writing.

Worth shopping around, had some variations in prices. Only one dealer offered free 2nd year RAC cover.

Took my car in. Guess what? **** rattle stopped when I took technician out for a run. I left car with them for a day, couldn't find a prob. Rattle mainly when car is cold. Dealer gave me a courtesy car, with a £500 insurance excess. Won't do that again, Fortunately no damage caused to loan car. Couldn't believe the £500 excess charge. Back to drawing board :-) Not a major issue, if it happens again, may have a look myself.
They weren't overly happy to help. I don't blame them for not finding the fault, but do think that my local dealer service poor. Don't really want to take my car to them for future servicing. Rather use an independent. Shouldn't be a problem following OFT guidance & still keep our warranties.

Could this have something to do with a passenger ajusting the seat, or you ajusting the passenger seat forward or backward?
I have a rattle when i break after that, because the seat is not grappling to the floor rail.
That sound is not only annoying, but scared the **** out of me too when it happens.
