Just wondering if anyone has been able to change the plastic engine cover, I have a 2001 and like the look and the protection the bigger ones have. Are the screw down positions the same or is the engine block different?

Yeah, I'd like to change mine too, but I've got other things to spend my $$$ on right now. If I did it, I would also put some RAAMmat or other sound abatement material on the underside of the engine cover that wouldn't be adversely affected by engine heat. That huge expanse of plastic has to resonate a little, even if it's reinforced underneath.

AFAIK, the attachment points are the same. If I went to a wrecking yard to get one, I'd also get the brackets it attaches to since they may be different.

Actually, Don...Hyundai padded the underside of the upgraded cover, quite liberally I might add. I was surprised, myself.

Here's a photo of the back of mine from WAAAY back when....
