yes it is true, or at least i know of one that has. it was fitted with a Garrett GT25 turbo with a custom cast-iron manifold. boost @ ~8psi so i'm guessing only around 100-110kw.

it had the accent flywheel, clutch and pressure-plate combo - everything else was standard/untouched pretty much.

it was also the same car that had its suspension done by whiteline, 215/35R17 tyres and 330mm brakes up front, 280mm out back.

quite a beast :)

Here is a copy of the artical

I have just got back from Oran Park Raceway in western Sydney and did 6 or so laps of the Oran Park south circuit in this little beasty...

http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_1923/article.html

I have jumped onto this site cause after the drive of this little car i have decided to look at a turbo kit for my little Getz ( not that it will keep up with my 2004STi)
but will be a hell of a lot of fun on motorkana and skid days that our club has

One other thing that i am really looking at finding out is the body kits that are on
the Getz... other than this car in teh artical.. there isnt a lot that i can find, any info would be great if anyone can get it for me

And for those who are interested, i am also have a 330mm front and 280mm rear brake package put onto my Getz as well as a set of 17' Rays wheels also maybe a vertical handbrake for motorkanas

Cheers
Marty :wink2:

I have 1 of 2 known getz turbo's in australia, running a t25 at 9psi.

I have added a front mount since plus a couple other things.

a review should be in hot 4's by christmas time, for the time being look on the BIO club website or email me for more pictures. 2 quick pictures have been attached.

A big thanks to the crazy guys down at Adelaide Radial Tyre for hooking me up with my wheels, suspension and servicing. I cannot forget to thank marki from Exhaust Technologies for hooking me my new racing manifold and pipe work whenever i need it.

Hey. How much did that set you back? I've got a Red 1.6 like yours. Would be great to do if it was reasonable.

I have fitted the following... costing just over 50k now

Front mount intercooler, custom intercooler piping, modified front
bumper to suit custom cooling, mesh'd bumper, custom timing belt and
alternator pulleys to allow heavier load. High performance belts,
lowered head compression, decomp engine, custom manifold, custom turbo
hi-flow'd, custom exhaust (legal db reading) with custom dump pipe to
suit. Hi flow'd and bigger injectors, the new haltech computer
management, engine and cabin wiring has been replaced/re-wired to suit
new computer and aftermarket guages next to shifter such as seperate
(air/fuel, boost and temperature).
Aftermarket temperature sensor made to suit water feed line for new
guages. Custom crank angle sensor on custom mount to make sure engine
received quick and accurate signals. I replaced the single thermo fan
with 3 on a custom mount. Before having all my wires and hoses
braided, when i had my top cover and all my pipes painted to suit the
car colour. When my engine was in pieces i fitted my new oil catch can
too to make sure it runs a bit smoother. Not to mention other engine
work etc.

Cabin has had a full stereo re-fit. With upgraded front 6 speakers,
with an additional 10 speakers in the rear. New wiring and dvd player
in the front. Hooked up legally to make sure i couldnt get done for
it. Sound system totalling 1 12' sub, 2 amps and 16 speakers. Some may
think 1 sub is not enough but it shattered a window over 5 metres away
so think again...
Then i re-upholstered the door trims after having the seat covers
custom made to suit my car. I then had all the interior inserts
painted to suit the new seat covers and door trims. I then also fitted
all my new lights in the cabin. (No not any poofy neons)

The boot has mostly stereo gear but i made a custom cover to hide all
my wiring etc from all the speakers on my parcel shelf. I painted my
inner boot cover and brake light cover in a black metallic pearl but
my brake light cover had a 3d devils face in gloss black so it could
only really be seen in a flash or when the sun hits it to freak people
out...

To top it off i had my new wheels fitted (which was the first person
to order them in australia as they had just came out), before having
my whole suspension upgraded with springs, shockies, sway bars and a
custom made traction bar at the front to help prevent torque steer.

All of it was done according to legal requirements to make sure i do
not have any problems with the law.
Saying that it never see's rain, dirt or even gets driven near a
puddle. Unless i really need to.
It sits in the shed under a car cover most of the year.
On low boost it runs a easy 128kw, on high boost it runs over 210kw. Once i finish the engine mods i should be able to run about 300kw on mid boost.

I have to thank Autobarn gilles plains, Adelaide Radial Tyre, Exhaust
Technologies and KPM Motorsport for their support.

I am planning a turbo for a UK spec. If I can find one cheap enough it will be based on a 1300cc model car
