Hi Everyone, I just got my 2001 AWD and found that the driver side rear running light doesn't work. I have changed the bulb with a 1157 with no success, the rear passenger side running light works fine. The brake lights also work fine when the brake is depressed. I have a tester and I get no power at the socket. Today I took apart the rear panel to check the connection and there is no power there. I proceeded to take apart the front fuse area as the fuse was not burned out. I used my tester at the fuse box and I did get power there but I am not sure if the brake lights also got thru that fuse. I am not sure what to look for next as I don't have the wiring diagram. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I will end up at the dealership if I can't find out where the problem originates.

I blew the LH taillamp fuse a number of years ago and it actually wipes out everything on that side of the car (front and rear) plus the license plate lights. The stop lamps run on their own fuse and if I remember correctly, a blown taillamp fuse does not affect the brake lights. At this point I think you've got a faulty ground wire somewhere in the line. Try using a crimp splice into one of the other ground wires in that cluster to see if you can get it to work that way.

It doesn"t seem to have anything to do with the fuse area. I went to the dealer today to ask about my problem with the rear running light not working and told him that I had everything apart including having taken out the driver's side seat. I didn"t have a wiring diagram for the rear running lights so they gave me a photo copy and while talking we seemed to isolate where the problem might be. They suggested a relay under the driver's side seat M46 to be exact. I told him that the right side running lights work and the licence plate lights worked and it was not a fuse issue. This led us to this relay. I got a chance to look at it tonight and it seems that one of the wires it could be was badly corroded and pulled out easily without me doing much. So I guess I have to change this relay not sure how to get the other wires out and into a new one yet. I will go to the scrap yard and see if I can pull one out one they have and maybe solder it into the other wires. Any direction on how to change this relay easily as I don't have a shop manual yet? Thanks for your reply lovemysantafe!!!

Just finished this project changed the M46 relay that is under the drivers seat with the one from the scrap yard and presto all running lights and functions working as they should.
