Is there a way I can tell if my 2003 Santa Fe is an amplifed or non-amplifed stereo?

2003 Santa Fe - has a Monsoon CD stereo. No cassette - has the ability to run a CD changer to it (but there is currently no CD changer equipped).

Thanks!

The Monsoon systems had a built-in amp that sits under the front passenger seat although based on what you're describing, I'm not sure if you have a Monsoon head. There were two different ones made; an AM/FM/Cassette/Single-CD and an AM/FM/6-CD single-feed in-dash changer.

My Santa Fe came with the Cassette/Single CD model but I have since swapped it out for the 6-CD version. Does your radio look like either of these?

AM/FM/6-CD single-feed in-dash changer....yeah that is it. My mistake for thinking it was an external cd changer.

Any idea if there is some way I can add some sort of connection so I can play music from an iPod? There is no AUX connection available on the front.

Unfortunately there is no AUX input for the Monsoon systems. I once tried one of those short-range FM broadcasters and it was a steaming pile of junk. Although in its defense, it was probably because I live in a major metro area and there are quite a few stations for it to compete with and not much open space on the dial.

If I had the money I would probably do a full Navigation/touch-screen retrofit with iPod and Satellite radio but I just can't afford it right now.
