QUOTE (NY SonataLTD2009 @ Nov 15 2009, 12:06 AM) I went to my Hyundai dealer today and got a Cabin filter. If anyone is wondering the part # is 08790-2G000-A. This is for a 2009 Sonata which has a different filter than the 2006-2008. post some pics if you can of the new and old for comparison, I heard the old ones look really dirty!

This is for a 2009 Sonata which has a different filter than the 2006-2008. I've been going through cabin filter tray h-e-double-hockey-sticks for the past month with my Sonata. The filter element is the same size between 06-08 and 09-10. From what I understand Hyundai used to sell the filter with the tray but have now superceded this part with just the element, i.e., re-use the tray and simply swap the paper element. Note that I could be wrong on this tray thing but it seems to be what they've done. So the element from an 09 will fit perfectly fine in your 06-08 model.

QUOTE (MiamiLX @ Feb 24 2010, 12:36 PM) Why do we have 2 Cabin Filter threads now. You should limit those comments to the same post. Hyundai always sold the
Filter alone. No tray comes along. So you found a wrecker and stuck a used Filter in? YUCK! I did not put a used filter in (why the heck would I do that?). I was missing the tray. So I got a used tray and then installed it with the filter I have which is fairly clean. I am trying to figure out what changed with the trays in the other thread. BTW, I have never seen a forum so concerned about multiple threads related to the same topic. In this case I had my original thread about the tray, then I responded to another thread where someone was asking about the filter difference between 06-08 and 09s. Sheesh.

This is for a 2009 Sonata which has a different filter than the 2006-2008. The filter changed sizes in the middle of the 2009 run, even a vin number run by a dealer did not pick the right filter for my car. If you measure your current filter and the dimensions 9 7/8 X 8 ¾ X 1 3/16 the replacement is 08790 3K000A, if your filter measures 10 5/16” X 9” X 1 5/16” then you need the newer filter part 08790-2G000-A. As far as far as I can tell all the aftermarket filters are replacements for the older 08790 3K000A filter.

For my Azera, I went to Lowes and bought a large, high-quality 3M air handler filter, then measured from the dirty Azera OEM filter. I cut the big 3M filter into four pieces, used duct tape to seal the cut edges. About $20, some tape and a little effort gets me four Azera-sized filters to cover 40k miles of driving...
