Does anyone have any suggestions to make the trunk light brighter either with LED's or another type of bulb that you installed. If so please let me know I want something brighter. It's so dim.

Hyundai uses black material to make the trunk look cool & to make it look bigger on the showroom floor (and it works). But the lamp is also buried in a recess as well. I found some LED battery operated (3 AAA) round stick on light pucks at Costco. They look the size of a hockey puck. They illuminate when their built in light sensor detects light. They were designed to go in your kitchen cabinets, open the cabinet door then the light sensor sees some light and the LED lights turn on. Well , they mount with Velcro. So I took 2 of them and put the hook part of the Velcro on the bottom of the sensor, and they stick and hang on to the material in the trunk liner. I mounted them on either side of the trunk lamp. So when the lamp comes on, they pick up that light, and turn on. Close the trunk and the lamp goes out then they turn off as well. As I said, the mounting took about 20 seconds to make them stick to the trunk material. If you happen to knock it down, stick it back on. I did that once. I found them at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Q7BQW...e=UTF8&s=hiIt said Rite Lite LPL623XLL 5 LED Puck light with optional light sensor. $20 for 3 of them. Mount one on either side of the trunk lamp. I put the third on the trunk lid just as a place to store it in case one of the others breaks.

I just posted a similar topic entitled "dismal trunk lighting". Sorry - I didn't know your post was here. My solution is similar to the one above, and it works great. Very cheap.

tcarr - Thanks very much for the tip on the Rite Lite LED pucks! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) Put all 3 in, about 3 inches apart and mounted to the bare metal near the speakers, each with the sensors facing the trunk light, but each canted in a different direction to spread the light evenly. Very nice solution! My wife was peeking as the lid closed to try to ensure the lights were really going out as one. Reminded me of trying to catch the refrigerator light turning off as a kid. Thanks again !

Another item I found (at WalMart) was a motion activated LED light - very bright single LED, 3 AA batteries. It times out after a short while but can be 'flicked' to stay on w/45 minute auto-off. Was only $10. I already had the other pucks installed, but I got the automatic one for a closet and realized it work for this as well. The single light is actually as bright as 2 of the RiteLite pucks.

Motion-activated lights will burn through batteries fairly quickly, as the circuitry is constantly seeking motion. A simpler thing to do would be to velcro a small, bright led flashlight to a convienent spot in the trunk, maybe above a tail-light housing, where you can grab it by feel and turn it on when you need to...

Ah, that's a very good point. Like I said, I'm really happy with the RiteLite light-sensing pucks, and while I also have an LED flashlight, would humbly submit the auto-on feature on the pucks is of benefit when your hands are already full of things you're trying to load in... (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) Ha, ha! No, I didn't want to admit to my addiction in public! I have too many to count! I meant I only have one (or maybe 3) in the car. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)
