hello all, i was out the other night and wanted to take off fast out of a light..so i revved my engine up to about 4000 rpm in neutral and ripped it to 1st with the pedal floored. it smoked the crap out of my tires. now when i accelerate out of a light, the trans seems to "shudder" and when it hits 3rd gear, it goes in really hard. also if you floor it while its on the highway, the RPM's jump up to about 5000 and then go back down to 3000 and it takes off again. When this happens i can smell a fluid -- i think its trans fluid. I took it to the shop and they said the trans might be going. How munch is this going to cost? and i bought the extended warranty on my car -- will they know i was doing this?

Clean the rubber chunks from under the front wheelwells and change your tranny fuid before testing that warranty coverage . You probably fried and warped the clutch pack then burnt the tranny fluid .

OUCH! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) I would say you sprung a giblet in your trans for sure. When you slam them into gear, you can frag the clutches. Sidestepping the clutch on a manual will cause like carnage to the clutch so you get the picture. Hopefully they won't ask too many questions.

For one, NEVER drop from neutral into drive. You will murder your trans. in no time. Also, tibs manual trans. arent very strong to begin with. your gonna be out at least a good few hundred $$ to get a new clutch and possibly completely new transmission, not to mention all the man hours it will take to replace it all.
