On my 2009 Santa Fe the tire size is 235/70R/16, what if i use 235/65R/16 or 235/60R/16 or 235/60R/15 as snow tires..does dat effect the ride quality and fuel economy as the right size tires are expensive and not easily available. Your advice is relle helpful and thanx for all the comments and suggestions.

thanx.

You're engine would be screaming at highway speeds with the 65 and especially the 60 series, your speedo would be off, etc. The 15" are a definite no go. Check size comparisons here> http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php

As far as ride it should be similar but to much tread can give u a huming noise goin down the road. Stick with same size rim.

You'll get some "road noise" with winter tires even if you stick to the OEM size - the more aggressive the tread, the more noise you're likely to get. I also found that the 235/70-16 were more difficult to find, especially if you wanted to "negotiate" the price - I went with 245/70 -16 that are a lot easier to find, close to the same diameter & width (within a half inch giving a small speedo error) and a good price.

I had no problems finding 235/70R/16 for the Limited. Maybe it's a regional thing. Road noise is up a bit.. that was to be expected with the different tread and softer rubber. Handling is a bit more "mushy" comapred to the lower profile 18's that are on the rest of the year. Rolling resistance of the vehicle has changed quite a bit as well.... it slows down quicker when you take the foot off the gas. All minor things when you take into account the added safety.
