Just wondering if anyone has had the following TSB done on their Santa Fe and can describe the sound they heard.

TSB #06-50-011 prescribes the insertion of a plastic washer on the front axle to eliminate a clicking sound when shifting between Reverse and Drive. My 2008 is making such a noise, in fact I also hear it sometimes when pulling away from a stop. (I'm speculating that this washer might have been lost or damaged during a recent replacement of a stabilizer link, because that's when the noise started, although I don't know whether or not the hub would have been removed for that repair.) Anyway, the TSB applies to 2007 models only, so I'm hoping to compare notes with other Santa Fe owners before going back to the dealer.

Our Santa Fe is otherwise running great, and I'm secretly hoping for a monster snowfall soon!

Don

Don, that's interesting. Is it 3.3L models only? I'm not sure if there's any appreciable difference between front axles on the 4spd and 5spd autos. It sounds like the washer may be put in there to absorb some backlash noise.

Hi Joel,

Yes, the TSB applies to all models regardless of powertrain. The washer fits in between the hub and axle, which apparently have improper clearance on the 2007s. I'm wondering about my '08, because it clicks and clunks under these conditions too. Just hoping to compare notes with other owners who've experienced it, before I go in to the dealer.

Haven't noticed any noise like that on my 08 limited... 22.800 kms. Of course... now I'm going to be listening for it... lol
