Hey guys i own a 96 Excel GX, and occasionally there is a strange light i havent ever seen before that turns on.
Its says 'ABS' in yellow writing, on the right hand side of my warning lights area of the dash.

I havent ever seen this light before, and i dont have an ABS braking system. The brake fluid levels are high, and the car is handling the same as usual.

Any ideas?

Interestingly enough my Haynes manual say's the Hyundai may be fitted with ABS braking system and the manual describes sensor settings, basically speed sensors are mounted on each wheel and it describes a toothed rotors, so it may pay to check if you have any wiring connectors in the brake calipers... basically you may need specialist care but the manual advises;

Check break fluid level

Check electrical connectors are secure

Check the fuses

If the check light stays on more than 6 seconds you have a problem.

The front wheel sensors are adjusted to 0.2 to 1.1mm

The rear wheel sensors are adjusted to 0.2 to 1.2mm

The resistance front brake: 1275 to 1495 ohms

The resistance rear brake : 1260 to 1540 ohms.

Hope the above helps you
