Make sure u line up cams correctly. Might need new head though.

Pretty much toast,never seen one survive a broken timing bely yet.. usually the valves get all bent up....

Dear vwmatt,

No the motor is not done but it will be expensive. Your friend with the 2000 Tiburon likely had a Beta 2 liter engine. Pull the cylinder head and get it rebuilt at a local shop or order one off the Internet. Cylinder Heads International in Grand Prairie, Texas has very good prices and great service.

You can plan that you bent a minimum of two valves. Since the belt snapped with the engine running, might as drain the radiator and pull the head to assess the damage. While you are doing this upper engine rebuild, you can use this opportunity to port and polish the cylinder head for more performance.
