Hey all,

New member here--I presently own a 2002 Hyundai Elantra.

Just graduated from college, and got my first *real* job, so it's about time to look for a new ride.

I LOVE the Tiburon, and am considering purchasing a GT with the 6 spd. Though it's a quick car, I'm always game for something quicker. I've driven the SRT-4. It's fast as all heck, obviously, but ugly as sin. And "still a Neon." I've also driven the Saturn Ion Redline. Not as quick as the SRT, but, alas, quicker than the Tib. Handles better, too. So, I'm torn--I like the Tib, but I do like the looks of the Saturn, and it is a bit quicker.

So--I've researched supercharging kits for the Tib 2.7 V6, specifically the Alpine which will bump power to about 220, or so. With the 6 spd, I imagine this to be quite a quick ride.

However, I wish to know--will this void the Tib's warranty? I like Hyundai's warranty (my Elantra's been worked on a few times, and never a prob w/ the dealer), but I also like the fact that the Redline has 205 WHP without any upgrades. I'm not sure what the Tib's WHP is (I imagine it being less than the stated 172 HP), but 30 some odd horsepower makes a big difference.

Or--what other sorts of mods could I do to the Tib to get it to that magical 200 HP number w/o fudging the warranty?

Any help is appreicated! I'd love to stay in the Hyundai family, but the Saturn, strangely, is calling my name (esp. when I can get an '04 model, new off the lot for about 16k).

--Jon

If you do install the turbo kit on the Tiburon you wont have a full void on warranty. Now if the car ever has an internal engine failure or a tranny clutch or related failure you will probably be paying out your pocket on that part. Depends on where you go and how the dealership is. As a tech, if you have a turbo kit on your car and you come in with a lower end knock at 20k miles, well we cant say it is a manufacturer defect cause they didnt put the turbo kit on the car, the customer did. :57:

Does the same apply for a supercharger? I just did a search on turbo kits for the V6 tib, and apparently there aren't any readily available. Seems like the Alpine supercharger is the best bet.
