as l said it's your choice, your vehicle and your money....if you're convinced that another brand is just as good then use it (but l would'nt!)
Hello, good forum. This is my first post and I am over here from the Mitsubishi Forum because of a Google search for Diamond sp111 atf fluid bought me here.
I just though I would write on this post because the other post on this subject in this forum has been locked.
The reason most people in the UK are asking about this fluid that Mitsubishi and Hyundai use is because it is very hard to find for DIY use not because they are stuburn or daft. I have only found one main dealer willing to order me some in the uk. £125 for 25 litres but the postage from Scotland to the midlands is not on so I declined.
I have found that all the Mitsubishi main dealers in my area use Castrol multi-vehicle atf fluid when asked. The main problem with the post's on the subject seem to be the fact that people who want to change their own atd fluid cannot find sp111 so then when they ask on the forum what else can I use? they get answer's such as "it's risky to use anything other than Diamond sp111. If people could buy it they would use it.
This recommended sp111 oil is obviously not rocket science as it only costs 4 dollars a litre in asia. I cannot think why anyone would think it's risky to use an alternative, you would not stick Vauxhall 10/40 in a Vauxhall engine all the time, you would not worry if you had to use Mobil.
I used Amsoil in my Mitsubishi which needed Diamond sp111 last year because the Castrol multi-vehicle fluid is not available to the public in the UK either. Opie oils now sell 4 different atf oil's which meet this Diamond sp111 spec, it is £10-£15 per litre. Happy DIY.
While on the subject of fluids the Castrol green coolant/anti-freeze mixes well with the green fluid found in most Asian vehicles I have found. The Castrol spec sheet say's it is designed for this purpose too.
Keep up the good work up.
