universal tachs have different settings for different # of cylinders. What is it showing you at idle? (Should be around 800ish I think.)

There is a setting 4,6,8. I have it set at 4 and it revs around 700 or 800 rpm. At max rev it shows 3000 in gear or neutral, pedal to the floor. I have installed tons of guages in other vehicles but never a tach in a hyundai.

I have the five speed. The instructions said to look for pin 52 and its green yellow/white wire. Founds tons of them but I guess not the right one.

remove the connector from the ecm, undo the plastic housing so you can see the wires going into the pins. Now turn it around so you see the side that connects to the ecm and count from right to left starting at upper right corner. Count 52 pins over and see if it lands on that wire. If you're not sure what side of the connector is upper right then try it a few times till you land on the correct pin number and wire color. And since yours is a a stick with no TCM that means it will probobly be white.

On the ECU pin the RPM signal wire is the 6th pin from the right (with the plug facing away from you) on the top row, the row with 19 pins (both other rows of pins have 18). I suspect you have the wrong signal wire.

Does anyone know how to install an Autometer Monster tach with shiftlight in a 1996 Hyundai Accent GT 1.5L DOHC 16V? I wanted to attempt doing it myself before taking it to some exspensive shop just to have a tach installed. Any help will be appreciated =) p.s. my car has the stock tach in it as it is a 5 speed manual is there anyway i can just piggyback off the wires running into the stock one?

you might want to disable the stock one as the pulses may be halved due to running two tachos.

Not 100% on this but hey... it may happen.
