These are the first pictures I've seen of this soon to arrive Hyundai's flag ship.... Actually it's gonna be another year, before US dealers will have the first of them in their show rooms....

You're absolutely right when you say this "Lexus, BMW, Merecedes"! Lexus the most by far in my opinion. Can't quite get past the hood ornament though... Features look awesome.

Yes, this car is not my cup of tea, either. But then I would never even contemplate buying any of the full-size Lexus models.... Nor would my banker honor the check (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

I didn't read the article just looked at the pictures, but it looks like it will be competing with the high 40k - 50k category of cars out there.

I hope not...it's estimated to sell around the $60K mark in the States.

They're actually aiming for the S-Class ($88K), 7 Series ($80K), and LS460 ($65K).

EDIT: Correction, apparently they're estimating it to range from $48 - $58K.

Also, did anyone notice they called it a Lambda V8? Should be Tau.

If you break this car down into sections you can see where it looks like they just copied all other brands.

1. hood ornament - Rolls Royce
2. Back of the car looks like a Mercedes S class ( http://www.globalmotors.net/wp-content/upl...-facelift-5.jpg )
3. Front of the car looks like a pumped up I want to say Mitsubishi something...but thats not right.
4. Clock on the inside - Infinity
5. Dial on the inside for NAV looks like the BMW iDrive
6. Placement setup of the Nav looks like out of a Nissan Maxima.

Like the KIA forte commercial says. They were not the first to come up with anything, but they just use it all. Keeps research costs down and your only about 3 years behind every other company. Keeps profit high, car costs lower than rivals.

I know that many car companies steal ideas from others but it looks like Kia and Hyundai just use more in each model. Which is fine by me.

My dealer said it's aimed at the commercial side, companies that buy limos to rent or companies that need limos for their execs. He said no canadian dealer will import them.
I too am wondering which exec will want to be seen chauffeured in a Hyundai (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)
Methinks this one is dead in the water.

Please tell me they're not going to call it that.

I guess the term works for the equine genus, but every time I hear the term, I think of the play:

Hey, Japanese cars were PURE JUNK only 30 years ago, remember? Or maybe you're too young.... Hyundai and Korean cars in general were trash only 15 years ago. THINGS DO CHANGE. The rich are driving Japanese cars today. The way Hyundai is conducting their business, it won't take long before Lexus and Equus will be rivals on the same level, and probably on the same PRICE level.....

Funny you say that... well before my current LX, back in the 90s and early 2000s, I said I would never buy a Hyundai... all they do is copy the styles of other cars and fill in the other sections with really ugly bodywork. Guess they are still doing it. But now they are coming up with better looking complete packages and I have had to reconsider my personal issues - especially since I really like my LX. LOL!!

Quite frankly I'm tired of people railing on Hyundai for making a car like this. When Toyota announced the Lexus LS400, people laughed and now Lexus is one of the premier luxury brands. And that centric iDrive like knob? Hyundai is not the first to mimic that. Mercedes, Audi, and Acura all use a similar system but of course Hyundai gets railed for it the most. I personally think the Equus is a hot piece o' tail...here are a few more pics to whet your appetite.

It looks pretty nice to me.

I remember when I was stationed in Korea from 2001-2002. I remember seeing the Equus over there, but I had no idea it was made by Hyundai. It just looked like a Korean take on a Lexus to me.

However, I remember when the Lexus LS 400 came out. Rather than be daring and sporty in their car designs like Acura or Infiniti Lexus basically copied Mercedes. 20 years later who's selling the most cars.

Personally though...even though I like Hyundai's if I was going to buy a luxury car in that price range would sooner buy a used Lexus, Mercedes, or BMW.
