I switched from a Honda Civic to a Hyundai Getz 1.4 2006 model
The major issue I noticed is that when I am pressing the clutch
to change a gear (regardless from which gear to which) the revs
don't fall rapidly , so the engine is still high reving as if I didn't
raise my foot from the gas pedal.
This is very annoying.
Is this a common issue ?
Am I doing something wrong ?
To avoid this matter I have to stay at 'neutral' (between gear changes)
for about 1 sec ,waiting the engine revs to fall, before I put the next gear.

Any advice is really appreciated.

hi,

I have same experience when changing gears at higher revs on both cars. I'm kinda used to it. I think it's normal at higher revs, so changing gears below 3500 or 3000 rpm should solve the issue. Also you have to get used to the clutch pedal and shift stick's free play.

cheers,
mark

I was having the same problem for few weeks, until I got used to it.
I usually shift between 2500-3000 revs. Release the gas all the waaay, clutch, shift, then gas again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .
I think it reacts on gas with small delay (compared to the carburator based Yugo I used to drive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ).

Somebody told me that it could be a malfunction of the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
Have to check it next time at the service.
Many thanks for your replies guys !

You might find that the getz just has a heavier flywheel than what your civic had.

Totally normal.

Hey, I have a 2005 plate, in the lower gears I find I don't have that problem but when I get past third I find that exact problem.
Nothing to worry about much just how the car is made.
Lovely little car isn't it?

Hope you enjoy your driving in the Getz =]

hyundai told me its to do with the EMS computer, if you drive hard and fast it will keep the revs up when you shift, if you drive steady calm the revs will drop when you change gears. i have noticed if i let the clutch out and take off fast in first gear then when i change to second the revs will stay up high. but if i just take off slow and steady in first and change about 2500rpm then the revs will drop when i push the clutch in.

hope this helps.
