My 2006 Azera Limitted was at the dealer today as I have noticed the battery has been cranking slower the last few weeks. It has been getting colder at night in Ohio. I noticed this about a week ago. It was starting but it just didn't sound right, so I went to the dealer today.

The service guy said the battery was ok but when it gets colder it may die so he recommend me replacing the battery. It costs me $168.00 just past the 3 year warranty. That sucked then I informed him I am still having problems with the lights dimming when the heater is on or the air. He said they would give me a rental car free of charge and would keep my Azera for a week having one of the service guys driving it home at night to see if they could detect the problem. I guess that is procedure on these types of issues.

So in early November I will make a call to get a rental. I told him I wanted the Genesis as my ideal rent a car for the week. He said no problem. After looking at the Genesis and the Genesis Coupe in the dealer lot today it wouldn't take much for me to trade the Azera and get one of these. Gosh the Coupe is awesome. $33,000 for the Coupe loaded is a high price but I bet they would give me a good deal as nobody was around buying today. I want to see how the Genesis sedan drives and then I may make a move down the road.

I just turned 22K too! I wouldn't want a Mechanic taking my Car home with him every night for a Week. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) It might never be the same.

As far as a Battery. Yes that happens, and even if you had used the pro rated Battery Warranty, it still would have

cost you. But $168? You didn't buy the Battery at the Dealer. I do see a Genesis in your Future though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Yea I bought the battery at the dealer. I been two places and they don't have a battery for the Azera. Both places the battery was about the same price if the service center put it in the car. I thought the price was a little high but the battery is covered 100% for four years. Maybe I get ripped of as is the case when a dealer fixes anything not under warranty.

On the lights it is strange. It doesn't happen everyday or should I say night. I could drive it for a week and lights are fine. Then the next week they dim. They put the car on the computer and they don't see any problems. So the next course of action is have one of their guys to drive it home for a week to see if they can detect the problem identify it and then fix it...I hope.

Hey if they provide me with a Genesis as a loaner, if I like it I might make a deal on the loaner. I should get 6000.00 or more off the price as it is used and should have some miles on it. Or I could just forget about the lights, let them dim and go like it is now. It really doesn't bother me that much.

That is too much for a car battery. If you went to Advance Auto Parts or PepBoys you could get a battery for 1/3 the cost. You just have to make sure that the amps are sufficient for your car.

My 2006 Limited's battery began to give problems just under the 2-year point and the dealer replaced it for free, no pro-ration under 2 years.

They can quickly enough determine if it IS the battery or if it's the charging system. If the battery itself is the problem, anything over $70 for simply replacing a battery is a total rip, and the replacement had better be an Interstate or better.

The dimming while driving is due to a ground terminal in the wiring harness not making the best contact with the chassis. While I never had the problem, some who have had their battery replaced found that their dimming problem went away, most likely being that the battery ground terminal was shifted/tightened, resolving that part of the problem...

I agree I might have got hosed on the battery but it is 100% covered for four more years and by then my Azera will be a gone pecan.

I checked my headlights tonight and no dimming. Yet it doesn't happen all of the time so I will be checking to see if the problem is fixed. I hope so.
