I have 25,750 mi. on my 06 Azera Ltd. and based on the fact that the car is in service just over 3 years I had a transmission flush (no filter change) at a cost of $240.00 at the dealer. Does this sound like it's in the ballpark? I have never had any problems with the transmission whatsoever. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

I'm scheduled to have mine done Monday after about 30K miles. I thought the filter change would be standard with the flush. I'm going to check with my dealer. I didn't even ask about the cost and had no idea it would be $240.00. Sure hope not may have to consider using another service shop.

A good 30K service on a V6 would include
Replace Spark Plugs ( 4cyl only NONE platinum plugs)
Inspect for any fluid leaks.
Engine oil an filter change
Engine coolant change
Transmission fluid change (excluding Genesis an Coupe)
Check rear differential fluid (AWD, Genesis an Coupe)
Check Transfer case fluid
Replace the Engine air filter
Replace the Cabin air filter (make sure evaporator drain is clear)
Replace the Engine PCV valve
Check battery/Alternator Clean post an protect
Clean brakes(adjust rear drums if needed)
Adjust Tire pressure/Balance wheels Check for Tire wear
Check all lights, brake lights, heads lights, plate lights ...ect
Check wiper blades replace if necessary
Check for SES light SRS light
lubricate all door an hood hinges
Check all safety features
Check Car for open campaigns
Test drive car!

Dealers charge anywhere from $350 to $500 That I have seen!

I would bet that the dealer does not do such a comprehensive check. Transmission fluids nowadays do not have to be changed that often unless you beat the crap out of your car and overheat the transmission one too many times. It is also more usual for transmissions to die in the Southern parts of the US due to the heat. However, the transmission fluid in the Azera is semi-synthetic and pretty darn good. All I did was drain the fluid that was in the pan and added that amount back. This is sufficient for day to day driving. A dealer will nickel and dime you to death if you get everything they ask for. However, I can do my own checking on the car so that is a personal advantage. Oh well. Such is life.

Your Hyundai Azera does not have semi-synthetic fliud from the factory.Unless you have put it in it! SPIII $8.50 a quart!
Take a look at this chart.

The Hyundai SPIII is a semi synthetic or synthetic blend as per my dealer.

I did a drain and fill of the tranny fluid in my '07 Santa Fe at ~30k miles. Purchased 6 quarts of the Hyundai SPIII at $6.47 / quart from my dealer. Hyundai/KIA/Mitsubishi dealers carry the SPIII fluid which is indeed synthetic blend. Call around to see if you can find a better price.

I'll drain and flush mine at 30K. Do you remove pan, filter and gasket or siphon it out of filltube...as much fluid as you can get out?

If you go to hmaservice.com it shows you how to properly flush and refill transmission fluid in the Azera. In short, drain the fluid from the transmission pan, disconnect the transmission cooling hoses close to the radiator and start the engine, put the shifter in neutral or drive and do this for 1 minute at most. Any longer could damage the transmission. However, please consult the instructions to have a better understanding of the work that's required. Good luck.

The tranny flush procedures are listed as follows: Go Automatic Transaxle System and again go to Automatic Transaxle System then go to Repair Procedures.

Still having difficulty finding it. Is it under the Service Information section; the the Shop section or one of the other letter sections. I don't think this website is very user friendly but i guess it's not meant for users just techs.

After signing in go to SHOP, then as I said before, Automatic Transaxle System, then again Automatic Transaxle System, then Repair Procedures and you should be there. You have to go to SHOP section for repair info. Hope this helps.

Just an addendum to my original post. My 06 Sonata LX6 has 13,000 mi. and is just over 3 1/2 years young. It is driven carefully and upon inspection the tranny fluid still has a reddish color and no odor. My service adviser at the dealer initially suggested that I change the ATF based on age. I resisted with the statement that it appears to be overkill on their part. I asked what if..... I had transmission trouble at this low mileage would the warranty be honored? He acknowledged that yes it probably would due to the low mileage. My question is can the tranny fluid breakdown due to age at low mileage, taking into consideration that visually it still seems to be in pristine condition? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

Hyundai service manual states that a car driven under normal conditions should not require transmission oil replacement. My previous car was a Chrysler 300M with over 170K and I never changed the tranny oil. It was pink , smelled good and it shifted as it was supposed to. At 150K I had a dealers mechanic pull the dip stick and he said leave it alone, cause a car with high mileage could get problems with new fluid.

I wonder why, my manual says to change it at 168k Km or 84 months.

I did it at 50K Km and it was BLACK not an once of pink to be seen! Wonder what would have happened if I hadn't changed it, problably might have been alright till just after the warranty expired. Then SOL.

For the cost my advice is to change it, why let $100 caused damages in th $1000s

Pelican, you are so right, my owners manual says replace at 105 miles or 84 months normal usage, and 30K for severe usage, which is what most dealers recommend, looking for more shop business. I just quoted what was in the Hyundai maintenance manual and listed on the Hyundai Service web site. Thanks for replying and keeping me up to date, at 74 I sometimes tend to overlook other sources of available information.
