Just bought a pre-owned '09 Sonata Limited 3.3L and really like the vehicle so far! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I had a few questions... Is Dealer my only option to copy my only car key I have?

Also, How do I program a car remote if I were to buy one off ebay?

And what is the recommended interval for oil change? is 5w-20 the recommended grade?

Thanks!

The "search before you post" button should be bigger and located at the top of the page. Just a suggestion.

The search box is truly useful

But I'll let you cheat once.
First off, you should have gotten two ignition keys + two key fobs in addition to a spare valet key that is bare metal (no plastic "head")

You don't HAVE to go to the dealer, I don't think... But I'm not sure if they'll have the exact template you need elsewhere.

I remember some people who had keys cut and noticed the tip was a little different and it got stuck in the ignition.

Second, the oil question. Best answered by simply looking at your oil filler cap... I won't answer that one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) I agree with Miami about using the search box on this one. Engine oil is one of the more extensively covered topics on the forum.

Lastly, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000732.gif) and enjoy your new Sonata!!!

Unfortunately, This was a pre-owned and it only came with 1 ignition key, and a keyfob.

I have the same situation as nitewolfgtr. Paul here and I Purchased my used 09 Sonata GLS V6 in august. Made the deal and signed the papers at dealership. Left while they prepped the car for delivery, for a couple hrs. Went to pick up the car., Sales lady said only have 1 key & fob. Said I wanted a 2nd key? where is it? She said as well as the sales mangr, it only has 1 key and I can purchase a second one for $175+ or so, by then was getting late in day, said forget it. What's the deal only 1 key with these less than 1 yr old cars? Anyway I figured I could find one on ebay or somewhere? hopefully. And they never even mentioned a valet key....until I read about it in the owners manual? Called the DS back a wk or 2 latter, claimed thats all they had for the car 1 key w/fob and I will have to buy the rest. **** me off from the get go...but has been a fine car so far. Lets hope somebody holding the spare keys don't steal it from my driveway ha!

Thanks

Preowned cars do come with the 2nd key and valet key. If your buying a used car always ask if it has the second key. And second your dealership should cover the 2nd key for you since it was their responsibility to get it from the previous owner. I bought a used 07 Honda Pilot and it came only with one key so before I signed the paper I told them to write the I owe you paper and owe me a new set of keys different from the first one. I got the different set of keys for free.

Yes, If I had known, I would of made it a requirement under the deal but I got the car cheap and 2nd set of keys wouldn't be too expensive so I didn't care much...

Why did we have a second new Thread about your Keys now? If you have a general question about Keys, you will want to post on our General Hyundai section.

You can get a FOB, and at times blanks on Ebay.
Just make sure the remote you have has the same codes on the back as the one your looking to purchase.

Hyundai will have to reprogram the remotes if you do buy one as your code changes and needs to have all your FOBs updated.

I purchased a FOB on Ebay for like $10-$15 shipped and had my dealer program it for free. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

150 for a second key!! That's crazy. Is the one used on 2009 a security key? (I assume it is not since the valet key is all metal)... Unfortunately i don't think the correct blank is available everywhere. I know walmart didn't when I tried to get a key made (yeah i know... walmart... but they are cheap).

BTW, if I buy a blank online, any lock smith can cut it right?
