Looking to put some winter tires on my 2008 GS - what kind would you use and would you just put them on the front and put some sand in the trunk for the back?

All opinions and suggestions welcome!!

Dear redskinboy,

In my opinion Blizzak tires are the best, but the special rubber that gives the great grip wears off in only 10,000 miles. I will also tell you that living in Colorado I have never used snow tires, just Michelin Pilot Sport 2s and BF Goodrich KDM's. New tires seem to not have a problem up to 4 inches of snow.

Now if you go over 8 inches of snow, you have a different problem. I high-centered my car last year on the center ridge of packed ice and had to get help to push me off the ridge. Car just slid up and all 4 wheels are in the air. Blizzak tires would not have helped. The Tiburon has little ground clearance.

The SE and Tuscani come with 17 " wheels and a 215/45 tire so you will need to buy a set of 16 's to use that tire size which is what i did . A narrower tire works better on a front wheel drive car in snow , it cuts through rather than riding on top of the snow .

I just sold the wheels and tires to a buddy who mounted them on a new Kia Soul , they fit perfectly .

Ah , just noticed your from Canada , the SE is a 4 banger in Canada which comes with 16 " wheels . The 205/55/16 is your stock tire size .

Blizzaks are ok. But I bought some dunlop winter sp's last year. They are sick. Performance snows that are V rated!! Great grip and not to noisy.I have had a lot of tires and these are one of my favorite.
