Hi guys,
I am new to the forum. I was interested to comapare my average fuel usage with other members. Thought may be a good idea to collate information from all i20 users. Official VCA fuel data is given below.
1.2 Petrol 44.1 62.8 54.3
1.4 Petrol 39.2 60.1 50.4
1.4 CRDi (57Kw) 51.4 74.3 64.2
1.4 CRDi (66Kw) 51.4 72.4 62.8
Points to note:
Source of fuel can vary the results. Extra Weight inside car can vary the results. Driving style can vary the results. \summer\winter can vary the results.
My car has done 2000 miles. Hyundai i20 5dr Classic 1.2 RED.
Total fuel used= 200 litres.
Average Milage = 10 miles/litre (45.4 mpg)
Best Milage = 450 miles on 42 litres.
I would appreciate if other users posted their figures for comaprison.
Thanks

Hi bigkabina. There are a least a couple of sites that allow you to keep track and compare your fuel usage with other users; http://www.spritmonitor.de which has the i20 listed and quite a few users. http://www.fuelly.com where the i20 is not listed under the Hyundai models, but you can still register & enter the relevant values. I've just filled up after having done over 390 miles since my first initial full tank, so, I'm not too unhappy (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hey
Does anyone know roughly what the run in time for optimal fuel economy is? I have a 1.2 petrol and On my first full tank I only got 310 miles out of it, with 50/50 motorway and Urban and little A/C usage. Some of that can be accounted for as 'new car wastage' but was still expecting a more out of it. I've still done under 400 miles in total so am hopin with time it will start givin 400 + miles per tank.
Anyone else had similar experiences?
Thanks

I have had my 1.2 Comfort 3 door for two months now, most of my driving is in town but I have done two trips from Yorkshire to Kent and back. The car has done 1,700 miles now without any problems, I have not had to touch the fluids or tyre pressures since collecting it from the dealers.
My findings are around town 42 to 42.7 mpg I drive 5 miles to work, its all in a built up area and involves a height difference of 250 metres between home and work.
Longer trips 57.3 mpg on first trip at 60 mph 53.6 mpg on second trip at 70 mph thats mostly down the A1, M25, Dartford crossing and M2.
I am no light weight (6' 2" and 18 stone) and the longer trips where with my wife ( very silth like)and a boot full of (mostly wifes)bags.
Forgot to add the longer trips where about 240 miles each way.

I've had my 1.2 i20 now for 5 days, initially filled tank up. Gauge half way now & covered 250 miles, hope to get 500 on full tank (mixed driving). Also driving slowly, never been over 4,000 revs or 70 mph on motorway yet. When I bought car, dealer had put £5 of petrol in (or so they said). I then filled tank up & paid £1.05p per litre, came to £40.50p. Does anyone know how much roughly it costs to fill up tank from petrol light coming on? Just trying to work out roughly what mpg I'm getting from my first tank of petrol. Thanks.

QUOTE (Boroboy @ Nov 4 2009, 02:41 PM) When I bought car, dealer had put £5 of petrol in (or so they said). Skinflints... or was I lucky ? I got close to 3/4 of a tank when I picked mine up ! The 2nd time I filled-up was 3 ~ 4 miles after the warning light had come on and I put in 37 liters. Having said that, a low fuel warning light can come on when you've got different amount of fuel left. On my previous vehicle, if it came on whilst on the move, it would come off again if I had to stop for a few minutes and not come back on again for a further few miles once I had restarted.

Just noticed, the i20 is now listed on Fuelly.com (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) Other than diesel / petrol(gas!), there are no variants listed such as the different diesel power outputs, 1197cc, 1248cc and 1396cc petrol, auto or manual, trims but I suppose it's easy enough to add in the vehicle description.

that's good to see, can't let the i10 drivers have all the fun (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) it doesn't look like the i10's have that level of differentiation either but like you say it can go in the description. had a third of a tank when i collected, was told they'd put a £10 in which i think is about right going against what i filled her up with but still got around half a tank so still a few days before i get to try a full fill-up (oh how i don't miss filling a car up every few days (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )

I drove 1/4 mile down the road, then put 35.74 litres in it. In a 35 litre tank! So mine actually had less than no petrol in it. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) TJ

The 1.2 Classic has done 3500 miles now.
The gear shifts are becoming smoother, the engine is revving more freely.
On average, town+motorway driving combined, I am getting 400 miles before the Fuel light comes on.
Upon refilling, the car usually takes 38 litres after the fuel light comes on.
I dont think however that I am ever going to achive 500 miles on one tank.
450 miles was the best I ever achieved and probably ever will.
