I've found myself in a similar position. I have oodles of diesel at the pump, but no starting.
I'm thinking that it is likley to be the fuel cut off solenoid on the pump (doowan).
A my neighbour just spoke to a diesel engineer who seemed to think it would have everything to do with the solenoid. Inspecting the IP I can see 2 posibilities, 1 which has 2 wires and sits on the front of the pump, engine side, the other which has a single wire bolted to the top and is earthed via its body (looks like an oil pressure sender) at the rear of the pump, under the banjo for the fuel return pipe.
The first, having 2 wire, 1 is earth, but the other doesn't supply 12v when the ignition is turned on.
The second, on the back of the pump, is supplied with 12v (or 11.2v as the bettery is getting low). I'd expect to be able to feel it click when current is supplied, but can't.
I gather if I take it out, the engine will run, but I won't be able to stop it.
Montego, if I was to undo the pipe to one of the injectors to check the flow, can I just tighten it up again with out having to worry about replacing seals and the like?
Thanks again
