i have had this happen ever since i have had the car about 5 months now the engine check light flashses and the car only seams to be fireing on 5 cylinders (this only happens for about 5 seconds)then then the light goes out and the car runs ok it doesent do it all the time say every couple of hundred miles or so i can be driveing along the light starts flashing slight loss of power then runing ok i had had trouble with the speed sencers input and out put so i put the problem down to that but both have bean replaced and all fault codes clared and car runs lovely apart from what ive sead it only does it now and again and only for a couple of seconds any idears car has 70.000 on the clock and had its last service at 62.000 just before i got the car

you will need to get the code read again. even though the CEL maybe off the fault code will be stored in the memory. it could be any number of things, spark plug, leads, coil pack, bad wiring connections etc.

It could be your air mass sensor needs replacing. When ours was faulty the engine check light came on.
