I have a strange problem, when it is cooler than 65 degrees outside, my rear driver door locks fine (automatic or remote), but when it gets humid or when the temps reach around 70 (F), the door lock sticks, anyone see this issue?

My Sonata is garaged so it may not count, but it's quite humid here in NC and I've yet to have a problem. Are your problems isolated to both rear doors?

The door lock actuators are notoriously problematic. I'm not sure which warranty it is covered under, but if you are lucky you can get it replaced! Do it before it's too late!

You know...it's funny cause I had the same problem when I was living in NC. First it was my front passenger side door, then my rear doors. Drove cross country to CA and none of the locks have ever stuck on me. Went to the dealership when the problem started to get annoying cause I couldn't turn on the alarm, they said that the locking mechanism slips when it tries to lock.

I drove Cross Country to California too! 3600 Miles. I know my locks are going to poop out. I have pressed the Lock cycle

countless extra times to double check that I locked the Car. Of course if you press the button 2 times within 4 seconds

you will get the confirmation beep. I usually wait too long. Also using the lock Beep system to locate the Car, instead

of the Panic Button, which is twice as loud, and does not mess with the lock cycle.

Oh yea, was super fun. Especially driving through Dallas haha. Quite a shock when you're used to driving in a hick town in NC lol. Of course all that changed after driving in Cali for a while, I've pulled quite a number of "cali maneuvers" to almost be considered a resident (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Yeah it got real bad to where I had to go around to the doors to open 'em up and manually lock 'em. Even after the dealership, there'd always be one stuck. I'd get **** if I didn't see my lights flash cause I know one of the doors didn't lock.

I use that trick too, comes in handy ;)

Have your dealership check it out.

No I'm not using a trick. I am wrecking my Locks. Missed driving through Dallas on I40. Why did you

go to California? California even had my original Drivers License # waiting for me. Now I pay State Tax

again, & enjoy the benefits of Prop 215. There must be 200 Smoke shops on Ventura Blvd in LA. Like a mini Amsterdam.

For college basically.

Haha yea, told my friends about that and they're like "IM HITTIN CALI RIGHT AWAY!" There's some dude in SD that goes around trying to legalize it for anyone and he has the stand with the signs and stuff saying 'help make pot legal'. Had to take a pic with the phone and upload to myspace and facebook.

Yes you just walk into the Doctor, and walk out with a recomendation. That admits you to enter.

For some reason the San Diego DA shut down all the stores, but you can find thousands of them

in the OC, LA, and North of San Diego. Have you been to Mexico yet. Many murders these days there!

Good luck with School, your Locks, and the Sonata!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) I voted Ron Paul. "Why support the criminalization of marijuana is the better question. First, I defend it because a free society allows people to make free choices, even dumb choices. And the problems we have with the war on drugs are a thousand times worse than the problems we have with drug overusage."

Truer words were never spoken.

My P/S rear door lock won't unlock if you try to unlock it several times but if you let it sit for 1/2 hour, it will unlock. My experience at a Stealership.............. If the door lock mechanism is bad and you are under 60,000 miles, it is covered. However, if it just needs adjustment or is slipping, YOU pay because the ba%^^&ds say it is an 'adjustment' covered under the 12,000 mile warranty. It's like Russian Roulette. Get it replaced for free or pay them to screw with your car for as long as they want and then charge you $90 an hour.

I've never seen this before. If it doesn't work, fix it under the warranty, for heavens sake! Don't tell me it was a loose wire and then say I owe you $180!!! Darn crooks!

I had the same problem with the pssenger side. Everytime I got it into the dealer it worked fine so they couldn't do anything about it. Funny thing, ever since I moved to Tennessee its worked fine.

Yes, my rear passenger door lock isn't working either! I have over 100k miles so no more warranty. I removed the door (skin) and unloaded a 1/4 can of wd/40 on the lock, the inside frame, and the door latch!! Sounds stupid I know, but it was advice from a mechanic. No, didn't work. I even unhooked the cable from the lock itself and it did the same thing. It just barely moves so i know something is working, but not enough to click all the way over...I would like to try to replace the actuator(excuse the misspelling) myself, but dont know where to begin...Hope you had luck with yours and if so, please share...Even if the last result was to take it to a shop and have them charge you an arm and a leg (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

The second time taking mine to the dealer just last week, the lock didn't work so they replaced the lock actuator. Mine got replaced under warranty though so I don't know the cost. Unfortunately I think that is the only way you will get yours to work! (replace the actuator)

I had this problem last year around October. My front passenger door lock started to stick intermittently(2 out of 10 times). I took it to the dealer and was fortunate that it stuck for the mechanic the first couple of times that he tried it. They replaced it and told me the locking mechanism was defective. Don't know if it was because of cold weather or not.

My driver's door lock experienced the same problem as most of you: stopped working (9 out of 10 times) with the key fob and door switch. (And cold weather did seem to affect it slightly. When it warmed to around 50, the door locked normally via the fob, but wouldn't unlock with the fob.) It did however work manually and with the key.

I was at the dealer for the stop lamp switch recall and had them fix that. They did under warranty so no charge... though it took about two hours to get it done. The dealer did not give me a hard time about checking/replacing the accuator, they just did it!
