I had a question regarding power steering on my car >>>

I currently have a leak in the pump with only 40k miles on the car. Are there any recalls or problems that have been discussed around here regarding the power steering? I didnt see and TSB's on the pumps and kinda shocked that it is leaking only after 40k miles >>> any thoughts ???

also another question i have .........

I have three warning lights on my Dash that just came on at the same time

1- brake light
2- battery light
3- ABS light

Kinda odd that all three of these lights came on at the same time???

I disconnected the battery and that did not help >>> all lights are still on

I was told that it might be the alternator.... what do u guys feel about that .....?

any other thoughts ???

Any help is appreciated

The power steering pressure hose has a notorious reputation.

as for as l know there is no problems with the pump, seems like your just unlucky

as for your other point, l agree it is likely to be the alternator. get the charge rate and battery checked out

i have been looking into purchasing a rebuilt alternator and the best price i found was $152

and for a rebuilt powersteering pump $118

$151 for alternator sounds typical. Make sure at that price it comes with a lifetime warranty.
Not sure about the PS pump but it seems like a good $.

Re: the power steering. I don't think there was a full-scale recall--but I know there was a TSB put out on it. I replaced the lines in my car and it stopped the leaks. It was a pain in the **** but doable and much cheaper than having the dealer do it. I think it was around $100 for the lines at the dealership.

$150 is accurate for the alternator, I think it's more like $200+ but you get a core deposit return. It took me about 2 hours to do this job, fyi.
