well i have found the purge valve on the amica, its at the back of the engine, mounted on the air inlet manifold, it is the one with the cable going to it on the left hand end and the two pipes attached on the right hand side, still not sorted the problem as the purge valve is reading as 26 ohm resistance which is what it says it should in the shopmanual cd, still it does give a guide to tracing the fault starting with checking that there is 12 v on pin2 of the connector when the ignition is on, and checking the resistance of the wire to the ECM as the feed comes from the engine power relay i did think it may be that causing the problem but as most of the other sensors run from the same connection it is unlikely to be this, the only down side in it is that after checking these wires and them being ok the only cure is to change the ECM, think taking the bulb out of the MIL might be a cheaper alternative. due to bad weather here i have not got any further tonight but will have a go later in the week and will post results in the post for anyone who is interested, by the way the car runs fine just the annoying MIL light being lit.
