heh well it depends on how much he wants to spend. the more usually the better, but for the most part its kinda pointless to pay alot of money on all season pasenger tires. but i personally prefer quality balanced with price.
so i personally would recommend some Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires. i got em at $83 a peice an they work great an have good grip, plus they are H rated so they can take speed heh. anyways hope that helps you a little

i would go for balanced tires but since my brother just started to drive i would like him to have the most reliable tires for snow to sunny days. i mean he is not the best driver.

I went with these after my wife burned up the oem tires in 23k miles on her GLS:

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/f...alse&cs=215

They are incredible tires and really transformed the ride & handling characteristics of the softly sprung GLS. They are also top rated in every category including winter/snow driving. They are not exactly cheap but they do have a 45k mile warranty.

I think imho you should get the general altimax hp tires. They're cheap and really good. Lot of the people I know put these tires on their ride and they love it. The tires are also really good in wet and snow since my friends are in chicago. But these tires are directional tires but the mounting place you go to will know all about that. Good luck.

^^ This

I have the General's on my car.. about 15k miles in, still perform well in all weather conditions (although, havent tried them in deep snow yet, as we dont get too much of it), but dry, rain, slush the General's have performed quite admirably... and no real visible signs of wear yet.. and i think they have a 50k warranty (although, by 40k, i expect to have to replace them based on my experience with other tires that never last as long as they say they will, so if they last longer than that, its definitely a bonus).. at $85 per tire, its a pretty good deal.. the H rated should be good enough unless you race the car, but V rated also available for a few bucks more.. nice aggressive tread pattern as well (which is why its good on inclement weather)

How do you like these? I was thinking about getting 4 for the sonata from discounttiredirect... Right now it's 69 a piece, free shipping and $40 rebate. After tax they are just about 300 shipped (then you get 40 back by mail).

If lowest price is key in the decent all season realm, you're not going to get less expensive than Falken Ziex or Kumho Solus. I had Solus KH16's on my Cobalt and loved them. I mail-ordered them from eBay and had a local tire shop install. My next step up would be anything from Cooper. I've gotten great service out of them over the years as well.

I have the KH16's on my 06 LX and they are good under most conditions, but terrible in the snow. Worse than my worn out Michelin OEM tires!
