I have a 2007 Hyundai Amica CDX which I have had from new.

Recently while driving on the motorway 5th gear kept jumping out and wouldnt stay in for longer than 30 seconds. I carried on driving in 4th only for a high pitched squeeling noise to start and every so often the car just kept losing speed before slowly building back up again for the whole process to repeat.

i called out the recovery people who told me that I needed a new clutch and that as i had only done 11000 miles there wasd obviously a problem.

The Recovery service towed my car to the garage where i was told there was nothing wrong with the car as they took it on a test drive. I was also told that they wouldnt look at the gearbox or the clutch as from driving it they can tell there is nothing wrong and that i had overheated my clutch - when i asked how i managed to do this they said they didn't know.

I picked the car up today and after about 5 miles the high pitched squeeling has started again but the car is staying in 5th Gear. Only driven it for a little bit today buit worried that if i carry on driving it the first problem will reoccur.

Does anyone know what this could be. Would really appreciate some advice.

welcome to the forums (IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000732.gif)

this is a bassar situation, there is obviously something wrong with your clutch or (more likely) the gearbox. the problem only seems to happen when the vehicle gets hot and has been driving for a few miles, get it back to your dealer and tell them this and demand that it is taken for a long test drive, it would be better if you went with them. the most obvious thing that comes to mind........is there any oil in the gearbox?

your car is still under warranty. if you don't get any satisfaction from your dealer phone hyundai U.K. direct and complain

Hi

Thanks for your response. Will demand a longer test drive and let you know how it goes.
