hey guys i have a 04 tib gt with the 6spd and i have about 20,000 miles on it. i really would like to change the fluid in the transaxle? thats what the owners manual says :D and the transmission. is that the same? i know it said 75-90 but are there any hints to doing this? any certain oil thats better? i have to make this car last a long time. im 23 now and it has to last till im 30 :D. i will probably attempt this if its not to involved. i change my own oil and refill my nitrous bottle but i havent done this before. thanks for all help, sharkgirl

Hyundai gearboxes contain copper/brass components which are readily attacked by the sulphur content of some gear oils.

Either let Hyundai do this for you with their own gear oil (it`s a fiddly job!) or try it yourself using 3 x U.S. quarts of Redline MT 90 synthetic gear oil, which is safe & works very well in our gearboxes.

If you want to try it, the info here will help some :-

Cheers,
Nick. :)

Sorry, my bad, try :-
http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/default.asp

Type in your car`s details & click the `Shop` tab..... (requires Internet Explorer).

To change the gear oil, you drain by removing the bottom plug, remove the filler plug & when draining is complete, replace the drain plug & add oil until it just starts to overflow from the filler hole (just over 2 quarts).

You may need to attach plastic pipe to the container & squeeze the oil down the pipe (working from inside the engine bay). As I mentioned, this can be tricky......but you`ll find it easier the second time around!.

Cheers,
Nick. :)
