hi all, 2 wks ago my van wouldnt start, i was parked on a hill, so i rolled down it - and hey ho it started wonderfully, i drove for 20 mins to my next ob and parked it on a hill close to the job.when i turned the engine off, and back on again it started! when i had done my job and came back out it didnt start....so i kept starting on hills or push starting it, then i took it into my garage and was told i needed 2 new glow plugs! i paid the garage for 2 new glow plugs to be fitted! when done, the garage rang and told me it still wasnt starting "right", i asked what that meant and basically was told "the glow plugs dont seem to be heating up for long enough. the mechanic then said he didnt really know what the problem was.
it starts when its push started only, it turns over rather sluggishly, but the battery is fine. should i get a compression test? injectors cleaned? if theres a problem with the starter motor, why does the vehicle start after a push start/long run- then starts on key?
can anybody advise a course of action before i lose my job...
thanx
