peter, l've had a quick look at this. the fog lights get thier power from the headlight relay and thereafter the power goes through the fog light switch and then the fog light relay and then to the lights
as you know the fog lights only work when the headlamps are on dipped beam because they take their power from the dipped beam terminal on the headlamp relay.
so to do what you want to do you will need to identify and cut the fog light wire at the dipped beam terminal on the headlight relay and then transfer the feed wire to the sidelight circuit.
this is quite easy if you know what you're doing. just ask your local auto electrian what wire to cut and where to re-connect it to.
as the fog light circuit has its own relay there should not be a problem
Please forgive me for taking so long to reply! 2009 has not been kind to me, renal failure (resolved) and then TKR (Total Knee Replacement) 7 days ago.
Anyhow, if I read the reply correctly, I simply need to figure out which wire is the primary foglight feed off the low-beam circut, cut it, and route it to a better power source of my choice? Sounds simple enough, once the correct wire is determined.
My dealer wants .75hr to do this for me. I wonder why? I think I will take a printout of this in with me when I next go in.
Meanwhile, if anyone knows which wire is the correct one, feel free to let me in on the secret (IMG:
