My 2004 SCOUPE has never had any problems then having just put it through the mot I decided to drive it around in an attempt to sell it. I went to work, the car was fine and it was left for 10 hours,i then went back to the car I got in and put the key in to start it and it the doors locked. I opened the doors and attempted to start the car however the engine was turning over but just wouldnt click over and start running....Im not mechanically minded and after a little advice....

I have had the RAC out they looked at the car and said that the fuel pump is working as it has a live feed but no fuel is getting to the engine, there are no injector pulses or spark, the crank shaft sensor has a signal but the car wont start. He sprayed some fuel direct to the engine via the air filter and it sounded like it was trying to start. The mechanic was at a loss as to what the problem was and stated that it could be the ecu or the immobiliser. He plugged his computer into the system and there was a fault code showing as P1610 with no text and he said there was nothing else he could do....

I have since been on the internet and the fault code text was showing as either P1610 Immobiliser - Smartra Error or P1610 Sensor Reference Voltage Fault. The problem is that it doesnt say how to fix the problem and my car is stuck at work. I was wondering if any of the users on here have had the same problems or know how i can fix it ? im going to contact my local Hyundai Dealership tomorrow however any advice prior would be greatly appreciated.....

Thanks in advance

you are no going to get a very good response to your question because you have posted in the wrong forum, remember that the u.k. coupe is called the tiburon in the states (and thats were most of the owners of this model are situated)

l will move your post over for you

BTW this does sound like an imobilizer problem to me

First try and reset the cars systems by removing the battery cables for a few minutes then reattach the cables and see if the car willl start. You might very well be looking at a trip to the dealer sorry to say because the immobilizer system is better left to the dealers computers as it can be rather expensive to repair if you touch the wrong thing, so to speak.
