QUOTE (Rikardo @ Sep 9 2009, 09:43 AM) Skanji,
Once you decide on which tires, you can leave a deposit to guarantee that they hold them until you are ready for the install. Deadline is October 15th to leave a deposit and reserve your tires.
I'm also unsure of which tires to get. There's not much in terms of real driving reviews for the Hankook RW07 which is what Simply Tire is recommending for light truck/suv. Thanks - are these prices taxes in?

Thanks Rikardo, he didn't mention the Oct 15 deadline to me in the PM but I didn't read the full thread with other info. I'll probably go with the Hankooks unless I see info saying that they are a bad tire. http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?tirebran...pro+i*Pike+RW07

No. Prices do not include taxes (nor the $5.84 stewardship fee per tire in Ontario). QUOTE (skanji @ Sep 9 2009, 09:55 AM) Thanks - are these prices taxes in?

Thanks Phantom. I saw that too. Those are the ratings. Can't seem to find much real world driving reviews though. I can talk all you want about the Bridgestone Blizzaks (WS60) tires - but I suspect you are looking for Hankook reviews? Have you looked on TireRack yet for reviews (or pricing)? HTH

Canadian Tire has Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT tires on sale right now (buy one, get second at half price). It works out to about $500 for a set of four P235/70R16's (regular $656). I was reading about this tire and it says it's for off-roading. They're a good price, but I'm wondering if they wouldn't really be suitable since I don't do any off-roading at all. We do get quite a bit of snow here and usually have lots of ice and slush too, but it's all city driving with maybe some highway. I also notice that the Canadian Tire website has them listed under Light Truck Tires and not Winter Tires. Are these actually a winter tire? Would these tires still be good even though they're made for off-roading or would I be better off spending that same $500 on a non off road tire even though they might not be on sale? Thanks! P.S. The reviews on Tirerack and 1010 Tires seem to be quite positive. The only concerns seem to be regarding tread wear. P.P.S. Other options would be the Motomaster Total Terrain W/T (on sale for $113.24 per tire, reg. $151) or the Continental Conti4x4WinterContact (I believe TireRack recommends Continental's for the Santa Fe, though a different model) at $243 per tire (a bit pricey!). Costco suggested Michelin Latitude Alpin's at $243 each with $60 off a set of 4, but that was for 18-inchers. I only see 225/70R16, 225/65R17, and 245/70R16 on the Michelin website.

I just hit the jackpot yesterday @ the Barrie Flea Market, I picked up some 235/70/16 Michelin X-Ice tires which look like they might have 10K on them for $260 cash! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) T

QUOTE (UniR @ Sep 12 2009, 08:33 PM) 225/75 would be a closer match to the stock 237/70 size for overall height. Anyone in Ottawa buying winter tires from Costco with the $60 off and free winter mats? I think I'm leaning in that direction to get them all done their instead of somewhere else in Toronto...

QUOTE (Pinto_Siftbean @ Sep 15 2009, 12:58 PM) Hyundai (not universal) rims, Nexen Tires.. 899+ tax includes mounting, balance, installation. I think that's too much. What model of Nexen Tire? I'm asking because Walmart is selling Nexen Winguard 231 winter tires. 225 70 16 for 99 CDN each. I think the rims are 69 each but Cdn Tire may have them on sale right now. I wouldn't be concerned running the universal rims...thousands do it every winter. Congo

QUOTE (Aaronb @ Sep 12 2009, 03:35 PM) I'm about to buy the General Altimax Arctic Winter Tire in size 225/70/16 from Canadian Tire. I read that that is an acceptable alternative size for my 2009 GLS.
Any comments before I rush to the store?!
Thanks I got a raincheck from CT for the General Altimax Arctic Winter Tire in size 225/70/16 for $125.24 per tire. Comes to about $575.00 for the four tires, NO rims. the beauty of a raincheck is that it gives me more time to shop for other tires at a better price. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)
