That'll work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) . For those near a Princess Auto, they normally have the tapered 12mm for about $5 per package of 4 (other sizes and configurations available for about the same price).

Are these really necessary.. I got mine put on at simplytire.. and Allen just replaced out the locknut with a regular lug .. so I dont know if its necessary to change all the lugs... Does anyone know the torque for the lugs ?

It's has been good reading everyone's opinion on the winter tires. I ended up going with a set of Hankook RW07 on steel rims. Saved some cash by the 235/70/16 instead. Now I'm just waiting for weather to cool before having them installed.

I'm not sure how it is up there but here, everybody and their mother waits until the weathermen utter the 'S' word (snow) and then they all make a mad dash to the tire stores to get their snow wheels put on. I do it myself at home with the floor jack...if you don't have this capacity, I'd get it done before everybody else rushes in.

Had my Bridgestone Winterforce installed this past Tuesday, total bill was $828 mounted/balanced including all taxes. Tires look nice and meaty...bring on the snow! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yes, mine went on Thursday and they do look 'meaty'. But a note of caution... I agree with the reviews ... they are noisy on dry highway. Personally no problem... but I used to drive a transport on summer break at U....

Well...I gone and done it... Had Avalanche Extremes mounted on steels and installed. With all this beautiful weather late in the fall, I think I've gone and jinxed everyone...lol Came out to $875 out the door. A lot noisier than the stockers...guess I'll have to crank up the stereo.

Ok.. so I dropped by the dealership to get a part ordered for a warranty repair.. nothing serious.. moisture in one of the lights above the rear license plate.. and I asked the parts guy about their winter tires.. I need them.

His quote was "about" $850.00 for steel wheels and 16" rubber for the limited 235/70 16's and the rubber is Korean Nexus Winguards. Includes installation, balancing etc. Wheels alone were 100.00 each!!

Let's get some canadian price quotes going from those of us who are going to swap their rubber this year!!

Hi, Pinto_Siftbean, I am new on the forum and have a 2009 Santa Fe GLS. I just replaced the standard steel wheels with alloys. I have 16" wheels and wheel covers with chrome lug nuts that fit the 235-70-16 tires, which I put on the new wheels. I would love to sell you the take off wheels, brand new practically for $100, plus shipping. Don't know if this is allowed on the website, but anyway they're available. I live in Florida. Nomadman

Hey.. my first thread that got made a sticky!! LOL

Hi, All on this thread. I am putting it out there that I have almost new steel wheel take offs from my 09 Santa Fe GLS, 16" with wheel covers and chrome lug nuts. Less than 2000miles on them. I put alloys on the car. Will sell for $100 plus cost of shipping. Beats the prices being thrown around here. Wallymart charges $10 to mount and balance tires on your rims, that's what I paid to change to alloys. Nomadman

Try posting your listing in the marketplace section. You're more likely to get a bite there.

I have stock 18 inch alloys. When I mounted my steel wheels and tried to use the factory wheel nuts, they bottomed out before they were fully tightened. This forced me to go to deeper nuts.

For the alloys, the suggested torque is 80 ft pounds. For the steel wheels, I set them at 100.

Put a set of winterforce 245/70/16 that I had from my Sorento and purchased a set of rims from CTC - no problem size wise - they seem to fill up the wheel wheels nicely and the tread is very aggressive.

The rims are actually quite nice for the price. I like them better than my factory 18" alloys.

I have the factory 18" on my santa fe, so for the winter rims 16" it should be P235/70R 16?

Here's what we just went with on our new Santa Fe:

Item Description Availability Qty. Price Each Item Total
17X7 Silver Painted MSW Type 14 IN STOCK 4 $89.00 $356.00

Tires
Item Description Availability Qty. Price Each Item Total
235/65R17 General Altimax Arctic IN STOCK 4 $111.00 $444.00

Sort of a compromise this time as I really wanted to get snow tires on due to our current conditions. Couldn't get quite what I wanted but personal experience says that pretty much any snow tire is going to be an improvement over the all-seasons. I run dedicated snows on all my vehicles and prefer a tire wheel package so I can switch out at home. Otherwise 3 vehicles twice a year starts running into money.

Would have prefered a little narrower tire but prices went up a good bit for available tires. That'll teach us to buy a vehicle in Dec, LOL!!

Only problem now is figuring out what I need to do to get the new TPMS sensors recognized by the vehicle.
