QUOTE (Phoenix316 @ Oct 26 2009, 12:35 PM) *
I was wondering if anyone here has run into issues with offsets wusing different rims or is everyone buying new rims fro Hyundai? I have some rims that were on my Infiniti and subsequently on a Maxima. they are 5x114.3 and 16X7 i believe instead of 16x6.5. I am sure they will fit but i was just wondering what everyone's opinion was.

Thanks,
They COULD be a very tight fit on the hub. An Infiniti or Maxima will have a hub O.D. of 66.1. Your Santa Fe has a hub O.D. of 67.1. I know it doesn't sound like much, but you'll want to check to be sure that the 1mm difference isn't causing a "press fit" over the Santa Fe hub. Probably won't a problem, but I'd sure try it first. Depends upon how tight the old Infiniti/Nissan rims were designed to fit over their 66.1mm hubs.

The offset will probably be OK. Most of the Infiniti vehicles were running with between +40 and +45 offsets somewhere, and the Hyundai starts with +41. I think only the exotic Infiniti models were running with lesser offsets.

For 16" Winterforce 235/70 and steel rims, my local shop here in Niagara Falls doing them for $200 a corner (plus tax). What I like about these guys is they switch me out every spring and fall no charge... same if balancing needs checking after a few years. Checked Tire Rack price to my US address and shipping kicked them up close to this .. to which I'd have to add installation.

Canadian Tire this week have the Goodyear Motomaster Total Terrain W/T (winter) on sale. Cost for 235/70R/16 tire + rim package is $885 all in driving away. This is a little cheaper than the dealer Winterforce package ($17).

Anyone have feedback on this tire. Looks like it is a mud & snow all season tire for trucks/suv that qualifies for winter tag.

The Blizzaks I have would be better. $300 for steels + my Blizzaks and the pricing is very close isn't it?

My understanding is that if the tire doesn't have the Mountain and snow logo on the sidewall, it's not a winter tire.. check it out.

I've got some 235/70R16's from my Hyundai dealer at $1175 (Bridgestone Blizzaks w/ Hyundai OEM steel wheels), mounted and balanced.

I still say my tires and a set of steels would be $200-$300 cheaper.

Just got my winter tires installed...

Bridgestone DM-V1 235-70-16 on 16" hub-centric steel wheels...mounted/balanced for $1010 tax in.

Now all that's left is to get some rust proofing done.

Had my Bridgestone Winterforce installed this past Tuesday, total bill was $828 mounted/balanced including all taxes. Tires look nice and meaty...bring on the snow! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm going to put on my Toyo Observe studless tires on this weekend probably. My standard tires are almost to the point of replacement and have lost a majority of their wet-weather grip. The de-icing solution they use here (not salt) chews up alloy wheels so I'm putting my winter tires on and then get new standard tires come springtime.

Anybody try putting on your new steel wheels with your stock wheel nuts yet? Mine are too shallow and bottom out before the wheel is tight. Local auto parts store didn't have enough in stock in today for so looks like I have to install them next week sometime (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Tip: If you need to buy new nuts, skip Canadian Tire, they charge way too much.

If you're using steel wheels, use plain steel nuts, they're a lot cheaper & will fit since they have a "through hole". Give them a blast of paint beforehand and they'll look pretty good for the winter.

Thanks Alfons. The ones I'm getting are only 98 cents each and are deep, closed, and chromed. The guy (Auto Parts Plus in Ottawa (Stittsville)) gets them in bulk so they're cheaper.

That'll work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) . For those near a Princess Auto, they normally have the tapered 12mm for about $5 per package of 4 (other sizes and configurations available for about the same price).

Is that the size we need? Any other dimensions to know when I go to PAuto to get these?
